Easy trail and worth a quick look - especially if you’re already in the area. It’s great to connect with the history here.

Exceeded my early expectations. Left from homesite. It was a super workout coming back from the campground. Definitely a mature hiker trail. Close to bluff edge for a considerable stretch along Buffalo River. Lotsa wildflowers. Very enjoyable hike!

The trail makes a loop. If you follow the loop counter clockwise, you end up walking through tall weeds. We went early August. As we came up on the back of the cabin, the doors were propped open with rocks so we went in and took pictures and had drinks and snacks on the porch. Continued on to finish the loop only to come to the sign that says you are not supposed to go inside. Ooops!!!

Easy walk. We went Memorial Day weekend with a 5month old pup and a 10year old. Lots of people at the low water bridge. If you get too hot, jump in the river. We loved to see how folks lived back then.

Neat historical cabin. The trail was overgrown tho an somewhat difficult to get across with children even tho it was so short.

this isn't a hike but more of a walk to a historical place. i love old houses and homesteads. i don't care if a one room cabin i'm going to see it. there is aa huge parking lot and the trail is just across the Ponca Low-Water Bridge. Boxley Valley Historic District is itself a beautiful drive and there is a ton of trails and some historical sites to see. route 43 is a great drive along with route 10 & 21. i love places like this because to stop and wonder what it most of been like to live here when there was nothing around.

Short little hike after crossing the low water bridge. (We parked just before the bridge and walked across) Be sure to read about the bridge as well! Amazing that the buildings are still in great shape and people respect the area. Trail is clean. Neat to peak into life from the 1890's! He sure didn't move far from his original place did he?

Brief trip into what it must have been like in the 1800's. Across the low water bridge and to the right. Excellent preserved buildings and cabins. Good history lesson for all.

Great historical experience. The grounds are kept up by the parks dept, making it seem as though you've stepped back in time. Wonderful trail for folks who like to get out, but have to stick to easy trails.

"Beaver" Villines homestead is snapshot into Ozark life at the turn of the century. Villines lived his life within miles of where we was born. It was an easy hike. Good for the Kids.
