At an elevation of 2,753 feet above Mean Sea Level, Signal Hill is the highest point in Arkansas. No visit to Mount Magazine is complete without having hiked to the highest peak in Arkansas. At the top is a 400 square feet stone map of Arkansas. A wide variety of plants make this a nice nature walk.

It's a decent trail to hit the high point. Unfortunately for me I ran into Jimmy Henry preaching his version of the bible and when you try to move away from him he gets all offended that you don't want to listen to him. I just wanted a peaceful hike... be careful if you run into him, I don't believe he's stable. With that said, the trail was kept up with and easy to follow. Benches at the top to relax or catch your breath if needed. The park in all was rather nice and great views. Highpoint # 5 complete!

Started on the northern trailhead and hiked up the .4 miles to the top and then back. It was very easy and only took 30 minutes when counting the 10 minutes of observation at the top. There's no view due to the trees, but the silence and sightings of deer, chipmunks, and birds made it relaxing. The trail itself was well-maintained and a pleasure to experience.

Pretty cool easy trail. Hiked this with small kids. Only downside is trail is not marked that great an we didn’t realize that for this to be a loop you would be required to hike along the road for most of hike back to vehicle. Not much for views but the woods are peaceful, beautiful trees.

The trail is an easy walk with a slight elevation. There is a geocache near the highest point in Arkansas. Other trails crossed the path in confusing ways so a map was very useful. It rained earlier in the day so many areas were muddy. There are no grand views from this trail but the Lodge nearby has an amazing restaurant with breathtaking views. We saw squirrels and chipmunks and almost caught sight of something bigger along the way.

Nice easy trail. No views from the top- it is a clearing in the forest. The stone patio in the shape of Arkansas with the river and different geographic areas represented by different stones was neat to see but you may not appreciate it unless you look to see it. My kids got excited about the geography representation in the patio there.

Great short hike, but bummed that there is no view at the top.

Did it to say I stood on the state's highpoint. Nothing spectacular.

Little jog up to the highpoint. No view of course, but plenty of views from the roadside parking area.

It was cool realizing I was at the highest elevation in my home state Arkansas. To bad there was not an amazing view to go along with the amazing feeling.

We fit this nice n easy, wide trail in between rain storms. Shared the trail with maybe a dozen deer. With this trail, it’s easy to walk to the highest point in Arkansas.

Enjoyed the trail though it was a little disappointing to not have any views from the top. I would have a map as their are multiple entry points for this trail. Enjoyed the self guided tour of the trail. Still trying to figure out why there is a water meter in the middle of the woods on the trail....the things that make you go hmmm. Overall nice easy trail.

Short, easy hike but almost felt like I had to do it just to hit the highest elevation point in Arkansas. Was disappointed that there was no view from the top.

Walked this a couple years ago while visiting for a wedding. Makes for a very easy walk from the lodge to the peak mainly just to say you’ve done it. Saw some wild life along the way.

Pretty forest and mice skort trail, wish there was a scenic lookout at the end of trail. Good to do once.

Super easy trail with a wooded view. Always cool to visit a high point but if you're looking for a good view, check out the balcony at the lodge! Beautiful park though, highly recommend taking the North Rim Trail and connecting to Signal hill then hopping on the Mossback Trail to connect back to the Visitor Center.

This is relatively easy trail, which we accessed from the south side near the State Park lodge parking area. There is another trail head on the north end near the Cameron Bluff Camping area.

Nice hiking trail with a neat stop at the highest point in Arkansas.

The trail itself isn't bad. The destination is underwhelming, though.

a great nature trail if you know to expect a short leisure hike. well maintained summit.

Sunday, November 06, 2016

No view, and the trail maps at the head and summit are less than helpful. To make it a loop, you end up having to walk quite a ways along the road. Consider doing this one out and back unless you are confident about where the loop will take you.
