At an elevation of 2,753 feet above Mean Sea Level, Signal Hill is the highest point in Arkansas. No visit to Mount Magazine is complete without having hiked to the highest peak in Arkansas. At the top is a 400 square feet stone map of Arkansas. A wide variety of plants make this a nice nature walk.

We fit this nice n easy, wide trail in between rain storms. Shared the trail with maybe a dozen deer. With this trail, it’s easy to walk to the highest point in Arkansas.

Enjoyed the trail though it was a little disappointing to not have any views from the top. I would have a map as their are multiple entry points for this trail. Enjoyed the self guided tour of the trail. Still trying to figure out why there is a water meter in the middle of the woods on the trail....the things that make you go hmmm. Overall nice easy trail.

Short, easy hike but almost felt like I had to do it just to hit the highest elevation point in Arkansas. Was disappointed that there was no view from the top.

Walked this a couple years ago while visiting for a wedding. Makes for a very easy walk from the lodge to the peak mainly just to say you’ve done it. Saw some wild life along the way.

Pretty forest and mice skort trail, wish there was a scenic lookout at the end of trail. Good to do once.

It's a beautiful trail. Very peaceful in the morning. Saw deer twice!

Super easy trail with a wooded view. Always cool to visit a high point but if you're looking for a good view, check out the balcony at the lodge! Beautiful park though, highly recommend taking the North Rim Trail and connecting to Signal hill then hopping on the Mossback Trail to connect back to the Visitor Center.

This is relatively easy trail, which we accessed from the south side near the State Park lodge parking area. There is another trail head on the north end near the Cameron Bluff Camping area.

The trail itself isn't bad. The destination is underwhelming, though.

No view, and the trail maps at the head and summit are less than helpful. To make it a loop, you end up having to walk quite a ways along the road. Consider doing this one out and back unless you are confident about where the loop will take you.

Nice short warm up hike on a well maintained trail through the woods to the highest point in AR. The lodge at the trailhead looked to be a fun place to stay with awesome views of the valley below. We'll make a point to book a weekend there in our next trip to AR

Short walk through the woods. Worth it just say you have been to the highest point in the state.

As about a perfect day as one could ask for when hiking. Took us about 25 minutes to walk up to the summit, 20 minutes to try to find the trail on the other side, and then 15 minutes to walk back down the trail we just came up. Scared up a herd of about half a dozen antlerless deer. Took some time to talk with a nice couple from Tuscaloosa, the park ranger and visited the Visitors Center. Probably shouldn't have done it but I grabbed up a few small rocks from the campground site to set in I'm my flower bed.

Was expecting to have a great view since it's the highest point in AR. No view. Hike was hard, side of a mountain

Finally got to do this trail strictly just to say , I've been to the highest point. in the state. The stat3 of Arkansas with the waypoint and sign being the proof when you arrive. Glad I did it

Great trail easy to hike. The highest point in Arkansas was a bit of a let down since there was no view like I was imagining in my mind. It's nice to say that you have been to the highest place in the state though!

Visiting Mount Magazine State Park was a great part of our recent trip to Arkansas. We headed to Arkansas to learn more about why it is the Natural State and this is a shining example of the beauty that Arkansas has been hiding. I find it amazing that there is not an entry fee to the state parks in Arkansas. This makes use of public lands accessible to all, and a huge bargain if you are traveling.

One of the reasons that we came to Mount Magazine was the lure of reaching the highest point in Arkansas. We hiked the Signal Trail look and really enjoyed the quick walk up to the high point. The stone work monument at the top is really neat, and the return trip through the fall forest was very pleasant. We tracked it at 1.8 miles for the walk with just over 500 feet in elevation gain. Keep your eyes open for wildlife, we spotted a 8 point buck while on our hike.

The lodge here is also amazing for a state park. It would be fun to stay here in the lodge or one of the cabins and hike the rest of the trails that are available. The views from the lodge are great, and you feel like you are on top of the world, or at least on top of Arkansas..

We took the trail up Signal Hill, which was beyond beginner, if you ask me. Very simple, very accessible for most tourists (though not those on wheels). This trail felt very short, and it went in a half-spiral around the topmost mound of the mountain. It was well maintained and felt like it was treated as the most important trail (indeed, being the lead-up to the highest point in the state, you'd want it to be something lots of people can enjoy).

At the top was a USGS marker and a giant sign, proclaiming it to be the highest point in Arkansas at 2,753 feet above sea level. Those used to the higher peaks in the western half of the U.S. will note that there's no timberline, since it isn't really all that high; with a lack of timberline, there is no view to speak of from the "top". For great views, consider taking the North Rim Trail instead.
