WalkingGreat!

Great trail! It is a little longer than the description but fairly easy to walk and beautiful views of the woods and some rock formations! Good little workout and doable for everyone! Well marked too!

I like the trail but it was a lot longer than I thought. On here it says 2.3 miles but the full base trail is 3.5 miles. I took my mom out there and she could only do half of it with her bad knees so I had to finish with the dogs and pick her up. Lots of boulders and steeper parts. Won’t be taking my chiweenie there again. But I do like the trail just wasn’t expecting it to be so long.

Excellent trail for kids and family. Plenty of shade, not hard. Fixed small rocks at times, but nothing requiring hiking poles or hiking boots.

We’ve done this trail several times. I like to hike more than climb rocks so we go for the base trail and it provides a nice hike. Trail could be better marked as we took a trail that went down by river by accident.

Love this trail! It was very shady and lots of benches if you need to rest. I brought my 2 dogs which I probably wouldn’t bring my chiweenie again as there are a lot of big rocks I had to carry her over. I think it’s probably better for big dogs, but they still did ok.

Great casual trail. Not a lot of up and down. Really good if you want an easy stroll through the woods.

We tackled the entire Base Loop Trail in about an hour and a half walking leisurely. Not very scenic; mostly just walking through the woods. Some oddly shaped rocks and boulders that you might see along the trail. Easy option for those out of shape, like me and my friends. =)

My first trail run was on this trail! Some pretty technical areas, pay attention or you will catch a toe on a root or rock pretty easily.

RunningRocky

I ran this trail for the first time last week and decided to take the loop backward by turning right at the start (counterclockwise on the map) instead of left. I quickly got lost off the trail and ended up at the Arkansas Arboretum, which is nice... if that is your intended destination. The next time I took the trail I started the loop by going left and the trail is much better marked with green paint periodically than going at it from the other way. So if you want to take the route backward, beware of thinking that the nice large trail is where you are supposed to be because it will take you way off track and you will need to look at the All Trails map to find your way back. Otherwise, it's a great trail, narrow in parts, and I could not run the entire way because of the briefly intermittent rocky and sloped terrain. The last quarter of the loop (going clockwise on the map) is on a cool ridge and you can look down at the trail you got lost on the first time.
