The Lake Fayetteville Trail is one of the most popular trails in the area. It loops the lake with a combination of paved and natural surface shared by walkers, runners, and bikers. There is a variety of flora and fauna in natural settings as well as beautiful views of the lake, so take your camera. The trail offers benches, playgrounds and picnic areas, restrooms, informational kiosks and lighting. Be sure to stop at the rest areas on the beautiful, award-winning, bridge spanning the lake spillway. Accessibility: The trail surface is paved and it is typically at least four feet wide. Most of the trail has a grade less than 5% but there are steeper sections with a grade between 8% and 12% (at about 0.8 miles and 4.5 miles). Manual wheelchair or stroller users may need assistance in the steep sections.

There are bathrooms by the parking area and also in a couple locations along the trail.

Loved the paved and dirt trail options. Pretty lake views. Do watch for mountain bikers. We were on trail on a Monday morning 11-noon. Wasn’t crowded. We didn’t have time to do the whole trail but we loved what we did do.

I powerwalked this path early on Friday, June 26th, 2020. There are several starting points for this trail and I parked on the north-center part of the lake. I was the first one in the lot and got started before sunrise. The lot was full when I got back This is a very popular trail! I was glad to see so many people out jogging, running, cycling, dog walking. I even saw a few men in the crowd. Wildflowers were bursting with color and I frequently smelled honeysuckle. The trail is well-maintained, with no trash nor dog poop to spoil it for anyone. The trail official begins at the Veteran's park on the southwestern part of the lake. I stayed on the paved path, and only took one short dirt trail to take a picture of the lake away from the spillway. Markers along the way keep track of the mileage. Bring water, as there are no water fountains. The path meanders along the woods. The only view of the lake is on the western side

Running

Absolutely the best place to run in Fayetteville. Paved trail has a little of everything. sun and shade, uphill and downhill, lakefront, waterfalls, fields, woods, etc. Keep in mind the listed length is the PAVED TRAIL length. The dirt trail is significantly longer (11 miles I think).

Great for the whole family. We had to take the paved path for some portions when the lakeside trail was just too wet after heavy rains. Lots of folks on bikes on the paved path.

Amazing trail. I would say it was easy but due to the length it is classified as moderate! Great trail for a casual hike with minimal rock climbing, over grown in areas but well marked. I loved it.

You can choose to walk on pavement or go in the woods. I prefer the woods. Not too hard and you can pick up the pace for more of a calorie burn. There are a few steep areas. I love this one because its in the middle of town and you don't have to travel far to feel like your going on a hiking adventure. Not many people out...of course we are practicing social distancing right now.
