We did upper and lower dogwood, goat rock, dead chief, hot springs mountain, gulpha gorge, and finished with shortcut. 6 miles. pretty strenuous, especially gulpha gorge and dead chief, and finishing up with shortcut.

We enjoyed this trail! There was a few times we got turned around but the view was worth it! It’s longer to go from the sunset trail but is a lot easier. We started from the campground and it was a steady incline all the way to the top.

great hike from the campgrounds. quite humid when we went. The trails are nicely maintained and a steady climb up, although not difficult. good family hike and great views at the end.

Not difficult at all. Nice view at the end. Mostly shaded. Word to the wise though...don’t eat 6 pieces of fried catfish immediately before hiking though.

Tough incline pretty much all the way up. I struggle more with descending so that was the tougher part. Saw a tortoise and a lizard as well as a nice lookout on part of the goat rock trail. Park at the campground.

Awesome trial! We did Gulpha Gorge trail from the Amphitheater and hopped on The Goat Trail to circle back. The hike up was at a slant so it definitely worked on those calf’s

Really enjoyed this trail, not too difficult and well-maintained. The campgrounds were closed so we parked in some gravel on the side of the road and walked through the campsite to get to the Gulpha Gorge trailhead. Gulpha Gorge trail was clearly marked with white and the Goat Rock trail connected to it with purple markers. Uphill out and all downhill back.

Very well marked. Shaded most of the trail and very beautiful. Leads to several other trails you can explore as well! Kid friendly

We started on Whittington Ave and hiked up to West mtn overlook. Then we took sunset trail over to Balancing rock then continued on sunset until we crossed park avenue by mickeys BBQ. Followed the cross walks to find trail head behind mickeys BBQ took that trail into Gulpha Gorge up to Goat rock then took trail back to North mtn and walked bathhouse row back to Whittington ave

Great trail! Pretty much all incline going in but it wasn’t terrible. We would do it again. The views were worth it, especially at Goat Rock Lookout.... beautiful

Trail was in great shape! Very clear and frequent postings. We added the peak of Goat Rock to Gulpha Gorge but plenty of places to lengthen the trail if desired.
