From the overlook at North Mountain, take the short hike below the overlook and stay right, noting the novaculite stone bars placed to prevent erosion. Below the third switchback, the lower side of the trail opens to flowery glades that offer vistas of Indian Mountain and east Hot Springs. The trail becomes uneven and rocky here. After several hundred feet you will pass beneath huge novaculite boulders. Goat Rock Overlook is forty feet above you. A sign indicates the stairway to the overlook. Stone steps rise 240 nonvertical feet to the summit, which showcases a spectacular view of Indian Mountain.

by far the was my favorite scenic spot in hot springs that i had time to visit. being from NY you would think it was late april but it was 1-29-19. most of the time i love meeting people on a trail but here sitting on this rock i was glad nobody was around. i spent an hour here just enjoying the peace, our star and all of god's creations.

My favorite trail in the National Park. From the parking lot, head back toward the mountain tower and you will immediately see the trailhead. The trail will “Y” shortly after you start. Go to the right and you’re on the trail. There are many nice scenic views along the way. The trail takes several switchbacks as you make your way to the “Goat Rock” overlook. The terrains is pretty rocky in spots along the way. There are some rock formations you can easily climb as well. Once you reach the overlook the trail goes .2 mile and ends in the Gulpha Gorge Trail. If you want to extend your hike you can continue or backtrack and take the Lower Dogwood Trail that you saw at the “Y” in the beginning.

Easy trail, a bit slippery after a little rain. Very green, forested area, watch out for spider webs and snakes across the trail. Muggy weather conditions make you sweat for sure! (I suggest wearing contacts so your glasses don’t fog up, this was incredibly frustrating). Really neat view at the top, worth the hike up!

Really enjoyed this. My only complaint is hearing traffic a lot of the time.

Easy , well travelled trail down to the lookout. We wanted a challenge so we climbed the rock face back up to the starting point. The climb was very difficult. We were scrambling like goats at some areas, hence the name “ goat rock”!trail.

Very easy hike. Well traveled paths. Great place for a day hike or those just starting out. Signs are at each junction to help you keep up with each trail. Ended up doing a couple of the different trails within a few hours.

nice little outing for me and my Oakley dog. There are some lightly washed out spots but it was just fine.

This is a quick, easy hike. The trail is wide and easy to navigate, toward the end the trail becomes more rocky and can be difficult for some. Overall, it's worth the hike and offers a pleasant view of the city.

It was definitely a moderate trail (return is mostly uphill) that anyone with basic fitness could do! A beautiful lookout atop of Goat Rock for a little snack before heading back up.

I took part of this trail as a shoot off from Gulpha Gorge. I only went as far as the overlook and then then turned around to catch the Gulpha back to the campground. Probably should have kept going to complete it but was tired from the day. From the half I did complete, I really enjoyed this trail. At some point would like to complete in full.

Nice hike that I always like to travel. It's a good incline that doesn't seem too strenuous, and the views as you're getting to the top of the mountain are beautiful. I usually detour onto this trail from Hot Springs Mountain trail to add a little more to my hike.

From the campground it was a moderate climb up to Goat Rock Trail overlook. Beautiful view & easy walk back down. Not too bad for senior citizens.

Great hike with beautiful views. The trail gets rocky underfoot about halfway through and the loose quartz is really cool. Hike up to the top of Goat Rock. It's safe and a very short climb. There isn't a lot of shade on this trail but after Goat Rock, you can quickly turn onto Gulpha Gorge Trail which almost entirely shaded and much wider.
