The Trail is not marked with a trailhead, turn Southeast before you get to the Homestead trail. If you go on the left side of the Creek walk straight up the path until you come to a ravine with a light waterfall flowing out of it about 3/4 of a mile, turn left (north) follow that up it's not very far. It's the same thing if you go up the right side of the Creek but you will have to cross the Creek in order to get to the ravine. Both sides are not maintained but have easy to follow well traffic to paths.

Hiked this trail today and had it ALL to OURSELVES!! This trail was a workout but so worth it! Be sure to check out Rick’s Blog before your hike and you should have no trouble finding it. The smaller waterfalls along the way are beautiful. Amazing hike!!

Nice short trail. The trail isn’t clearly marked after you cross the creek to see the falls. Make sure to turn left up the hill instead of continuing straight. The trail continues but isn’t leading you to the end point

Great trail that was fairly easy to follow and I did have to cross the creek. Hit some slippery spots due to all the rain. The fall was running beautifully! Will do this hike again.

Nice well marked trail. there are muddy spots since you are following the river.

HikingGreat!

Easy walk along a beautiful stream, the last 100 yards is a climb to the waterfall.

an amazing short little trail, once you find the right trail it's not hard to follow. just make sure to keep an eye out for the ravine you'll climb up to get to Balanced Rock

Great hidden gem of a trail. I will reiterate what other reviewers have said: the trail isn’t marked, so be sure to follow the AllTrails topo map! I will also agree to stay on the main trail (to the right of the creek) and not follow the pink ribbons. Most of the trail was very easy and pleasantly followed the creek, and then turns sharply up the ravine (don’t miss it!) and climbs steeply to the rock & falls. This part was steep and a bit slippery, but doable. Gorgeous creek and enjoyable trail! Fun to add on the short walk up to Villines Cabin from the trailhead.

Well somehow I missed the Balanced Rock. The waterfalls along the way were awesome. I’ll have to try it again. The path was a little hard for me to follow. Hopefully next time I’ll have a little better luck.

Pretty good trail, not marked well. You will need to follow the regular trail on the right of the creek instead of crossing over to the pink ribbons. It’s much steeper!

Great day for hiking as the colder temps kept most people at home so had the trail to myself. The trail is relatively easy to follow but there are some parts of the trail that are a little worn. With the recent rain the creek was flowing and as a result some little run-off type cascades/waterfalls. One thing to note - I noticed there were some orange orange ribbons on the opposite side of the creek so decided to check that out. That is another way to get to the base of the balanced rock. If you go to the gate that leads up to the Villines Homestead and look to the right from looking at the gate you should see the start. This isn't a worn out path but it was well marked and easy to follow. When you suddenly stop seeing the ribbon look up the hill as they go up. It is a little steep but probably no worse than what you would encounter if you follow the AllTrails map when you head up to the rock.

Great hike. Bit windy and cold but at least it was not rainy. I’d rate it a good hike for kids and older adults

My wife and I loved this hike. When we got up to balanced rock it started snowing. It felt secluded, but we did see another couple when we were coming back down from the waterfall. The only negative thing we thought about the hike was we couldn't find a good place to cross over the creek without getting wet. Next time we will be better prepared.

Lovely secluded trail. Very narrow the entire way through with some creek crossings, might be high after a rain. Trekking poles would be nice at the end. Beautiful area!

Nice secluded trail! the trail itself seems a little washed out, the area appears to be a flash flood area so be prepared.

Some pretty water features following the creek, but the trail had some rough spots that were nearly washed out. Also it was really difficult to find the final segment of the trail, that leads up into the ravine towards the balanced rock. This trail could use some markings and maintenance.
