Gorgeous hike through canyons and along the lake ending with quite a view of Lake Pleasant. We finished the trail with an eight-year-old and a four-year-old and it wore them out. Highly recommended.

Beautiful trail. Slightly confusing in the beginning, but once you get on the trail you will see the sign for Yavapai point.
Narrow towards the top, so be careful for oncoming hikers.

Great short hike. Amazing views. Agree that the trail gets more narrow the higher you get. Just be careful! Sad I didn’t see any of the wild burros too!

Starts off at cottonwood Ln. You must start at pipeline trail until you meet with Yavapai trail.
The trail is very rocky, and narrow so be prepared with some good shoes and be ready to make yourself super skinny when letting others pass and try not to fall on the cholla. There’s rarely any shade so bring lots of water!
The lake view is amazing once you get to the viewpoint. Overall we really enjoyed this hike!
People were complaining because it’s so narrow BUT do your research before heading out or just head out and make the best of it! :) no one likes whiney hikers ;)

The trailhead was at the Cottonwood picnic area. We decided to start at the Pipeline trailhead and took the “shortcut” to Yavapai Trail. For January, the Lake Pleasant water levels were obviously lower as seen on the shoreline rocks. The panoramic views were vast all around. From the summit we saw the narrow bridge on the Pipeline trail towards the marina. There were lots of Cholla along the narrow switchbacks, so be careful not to catch one of them on your pants. If the Cholla happens to hitch a ride, be prepared to remove it with nose pliers or a comb. This was a quick and easy hike.
Park fee at entrance. Nice restrooms at trailhead.

Overall nice easy trail. Bit busier. Took dogs - great for paws in comparison to some other trails - mostly dirt no rock issues. Lots of cholla in some areas, but luckily didn't see any on trail. Definitely would watch for them though. There's really no shade. Pretty view of the lake at the top with a bench. Cross your fingers bench isn't taken or you're probably standing since not a lot of places to sit. Didn't see drinking fountains, but really nice restroom at trailhead.

Very pretty but I would not personally recommend when it is hot out unless you take plenty of water. There is no shade and the trail is exposed the whole way. The view was well worth it and picture opportunities are there for the photo junkies. The turn off is only about a 1/4 mile from the pay booth on the right at Cottonwood day use area. There are toilets. The trail is not really hard, but the last 3/4 mile or so has steep sections and loose rocks. The trail is pretty narrow and there are a lot of cholla cactus so if you bring a dog bring a comb just in case. Overall a nice hike. It’s a good workout but not too strenuous

Steady hike with clear trail, view at the end is definitely worth it! Good family hike though a little ambitious for a 3 year old.

Didn't have to pay today. Labor Day. It was a pretty nice hike. Easy but perfect for a morning get away. Saw some donkeys about 7 of them. Got stung by a bee and my dog stepped in a cactus branch. Pretty good time overall

We did this hike in the morning before it got too hot and it was beautiful! Well worth it before a day spent down at the lake.

Best viewpoint is at the end of this trail. You can see so much of the lake.
We came in time for the wildflower blooms. The smell of the blossoms was everywhere. It seems like a better option to pipeline canyon.
Check it out. Like all the returning hikers told us, the view is worth it!

With the wildflowers blooming and the water levels being so high, this hike was just stunning. The trail is in good shape, and the scenery varies, even for a short hike. When things are brown and dry, it will still be a nice trail, but right now it's gorgeous.

One of my most favorite and picturesque hikes of all in the valley. The combination of water, green desert and wild burros is magical for me.

Outstanding trail quality and quick ascent to the top of Yavapai Point. The cloudless, sunny day made for beautiful colors of the desert and the deep blue of the lake. I would recommend this trail to everyone as the combination of surrounding mountains, beautiful desert, and blue lake made for a very nice day. Lots of great photos taken today.
