Getting There

There is a $7 parking fee. Perhaps the best known of the trails in the White Tanks, Waterfall Trail is a well-maintained, barrier-free trail that terminates at a Waterfall. Many petroglyphs are highlighted along the trail. The waterfall only flows after a recent rain. Park entrance fee is $7. The fee is $2 if you walk, bike, or ride via horseback into the park. Accessibility: The trail surface is partially-paved and partially-dirt/gravel. About the first half of the trail is paved, typically at least four feet wide, and mostly gentle with an estimated grade less than 5% but then the grade begins to get steep at about 0.8 miles and the trail changes surface and is more narrow. It is dirt/gravel getting up to the waterfall and there are stairs cut into the rock at the end of the trail to get to the plunge pool viewpoint.

There are bathrooms and drinking fountains near the parking lot.

HikingGreat!

I made the trip when the waterfall was dry. I think I would give this 4-5 stars if there was an actual waterfall. I enjoyed the views and the extra push that the elevation gave me. Perfect for someone who wants a nice quick workout outdoors.

Took my 3 grandkids hiking this morning — 6, 9 & 11 — took a little more than an hour. Good parking, playground in shade. Restrooms available. They did really well, cool vistas ans the best part — petroglyphs!! All over if you’re a kid looking. Interpretive center at bottom was really neat too. Rangers had a lot of skulls and a great job explaining.

HikingGreat!

We loved it! Even though there’s really no waterfall at the present time it was about 10° cooler inside the walls of the cliffs where the waterfall would be so it was refreshing just to get out of the sun even though it was only 73°. My wife and I are new hikers this is our only second time going and we are addicted to this and getting healthy so. In fact I would love people to check out our YouTube channel where we document our life for people to check out. https://youtube.com/channel/UCyasN9vOFQy2POcv6VOvoxQ

Keep going to the end! Even if water isn’t flowing the cool cavern change in temp and pool of water is a nice spot to relax.

Not a waterfall at the end but a very cool shady canyon for a chance to cool off with great rocks for climbing around.

Nice little out and back, but it does get crowded. Bottlenecks at the end of the paved trail, as well as the falls itself. Go early to avoid the crowds!

This is an easy hike gradually up hill mostly paved. There’s many petroglyphs in petroglyph plaza and along the way on the sides so keep an eye out.

Heavily trafficked, I would recommend going on a week day. Dog owners...Pick up your dogs poop. Never seen so much shit on a hike! They have bags at the trailhead

HikingGreat!

Love the trail. Have visited it the past three years while we vacationed in Arizona. Nice easy trail. Paved for wheelchairs and strollers part way and is gravel/dirt on up to the waterfall which may not have water flowing but still great to see the rock formations. Great place to see plenty of petroglyphs. Drizzled rain last year and this year on our visit in early March so be prepared with hat, umbrellas poncho.
