Moderately challenge scenic loop for stock SUVs A photographer's dream. Beautiful Sonoran Desert with towering red buttes on all sides of the trail. A fun drive offering real adventure. Hike into the nearby White Canyon Wilderness area north of the trail. A small part of this trail crosses State Trust Land so it's best to have a State Trust Land permit. For information call 602-364-2753. This is also a popular ATV area. Stay on existing trails at all times. Rating: Moderate. Winding, rutted road with moderate climbs and descents. Narrow in a few places. Our group drove the trail following a period of torrential rains. Several places were badly washed out, which required some rock-stacking for several stock vehicles in our group. While the road is well defined most of the way, one section crosses a low sandy area along the Gila River. Skid plates and high ground clearance recommended for stock vehicles. Brush may lightly touch your vehicle.

Beautiful scenery, but definitely not a moderate trail. I would not drive anything that is stock on this trail. Lifted 4x4 or utv’s only. Very rough terrain and some very challenging uphills. We still had a great time, but it took about 5 hours with a few stops and stopping to eat lunch.

Awesome trail. Perfect for utvs. Lightly travelled. Some rutty sketchy spots. Rocks. Total mix of terrain. Makes for a perfect 3 hour day. Def moderate w few difficult spots. Loved it.

Great ride today! Lots of different terrain makes for a fun and moderately challenging ride. Nice 2 1/2 to 3 hrs if you don’t stop a bunch.

Great ride and prefect time of year with the desert in bloom and so much green in the washes and hill sides. Little rocky in places but nothing to ruin your ride. Just a great day in the Arizona Desert. We were in five Jeep Renegades and on Jeep Compass.

Beautiful views along the trail. There are areas where the trail has deep washed out ruts and can be challenging. We rode the trail in a UTV, taking our time and enjoying the scenery in about six hours. We’ll be back in the future to guide for friends.

Trail should be rated Hard as it is very rocky and rutted in places, but is great fun and super scenic.

Fun trail to start with lots of wildlife and breathtaking views. This trail, most likely due to the monsoon season, was incredibly technical with a lot of washouts and sharp rocks. The issue with this trail is it is not marked and has a lot of intersections with no direction. You WILL need to follow the directions exact or you will find yourself in very dangerous territory quick. You will drive in a few washes with varying difficulty depending on storms. My recommendation is to drive in, stop at the Gila River to eat lunch and take in the views, and drive back the way you came.

We just finished a portion of the trail - it was really great with spectacular views! Definitely some deep rutted and moderate+ climbs and overall fun! Did not do the entire loop. Went to point 6 and turned around.

I just got back from this trip and need to want people-- it is currently not a "family friendly" moderate route- it is leaning much closer to hard right now. The entire route has been effected by the strong storms AZ has gotten this year and there are many big washouts. Some sections have become fairly technical if you have a stock SUV/Truck. Also, expect to get your sides scratched up on all the brush that has grown into the trails. Please take care if you do this route! It is also highly recommended you travel with another vehicle-- don't solo this route right now unless you have a well modified rig and a winch! I ended up having to call in a recovery specialist to come winch me out of a big wash between points 1 and 2 on the map. My friend was unable to tow me out of it. All that said, it is a route with beautiful scenery!
