Very nice moderate trail with amazing desert scenery. Provides a loop opportunity between Hawk's Nest Trail, Dixie Mountain Loop, and Desert Tortoise Trail.

Sweet moderate trail with only slight elevation change after the first half mile or so... until you come to the choice of detouring an out and back mountain (sign posts just say 'UP'

Lightly trafficked trail with some normal desert scenery. No steep inclines or declines if you opt out of hiking up to union peak. If you do hike up union peak, prepare for some steeper inclines. Nothing too special about this one, but beware of rattlesnakes. I encountered one very close to the trail that was coiled up and within striking distance. It warned me while I was a little too close for comfort and had to back away slowly. Always keep dogs on leashes and close to you!

This trail was great! Not trafficked at all so it’s great if you want to feel that seclusion while not being out too far. Climbed Union Peak which wasn’t too bad at all. There was a couple switch backs that were a bit steep in some areas but taking your time and if you have trekking poles handy will help with the inclines. Be aware that there are rattlesnakes close to the trail so it’s wise to keep any pets on a leash and keep your children close that way they don’t wander off of the trail. Other than that, it was a great hike!

Valle Verde is within the Sonoran Preserve and is a decently long hike, but aside from the initial cacti/wildflowers and the trek up the the Union peak, it’s not particularly interesting and it’s so flat. Dixie Loop is nearby and I plan to do that path next time to see if it’s any more interesting.

Beautiful area with so many different level hikes for every type of ability. Quite and peaceful to enjoy nature. You’ll occasionally hear a small plane go by since Deer Valley Airport is near by.Bring Water it is the desert

This trail was super flat with the exception of the hike to the summit. I think the only reason it was rated moderate instead of easy was because it was fairly long. This is only a tough workout if you run this trail.

This is my second hiking ever. First one was dixie summit. Loved this one but felt it was easier than the Dixie which was my first. This time i had great pair of hiking shoes. Not lot of steep climbing but for one or two. Long walk thought. Good 3+ miles if you finish and return via the dixie foot hills. Great cactus plants for scenic and photo ops.

Another amazing Trail within the Sonoran Preserve providing an alternative loop between Dixie Mountain Loop and Desert Tortoise Trail. Great Desert scenery and relatively easy to Hike. Proper hiking boots/shoes recommended as the trail is quite rocky. As with all the trails in this system, there are many sign posts along the route showing the GPS coordinates, elevation and distance.
