Great trail. Mostly flat. Great for all ages.

We hiked Brown’s Ranch > Whiskey Barrel Trail (about a 4 mile loop) because GPS brought us to that trailhead instead. Superb facilities at the trailhead, with helpful employees, maps, restrooms, etc. Gorgeous views and an easy trail to walk, but very hot and little shade - bring twice as much water as you’d usually bring. Loved this loop!

Was a diamondback that struck at a lady today. I did not see the trail to the summit.

easy hike. be cautious, I was bitten by a western diamondback snake. staff was professional and called paramedics. there is a risk in any endeavour.

There are so many trails to loop together in this preserve. I did a loop from the parking lot to Hackamore to Cone Mountain to Upper Ranch To Brown's Mountain to Wrangler to Upper Ranch to parking lot. It was right at 7 miles. All the trails are very clearly marked, so it's easy to create routes to add or reduce mileage.

The trails are well maintained and most of the route is dirt with a little hard scrabble. It gets a little rocky along the Brown's Mountain Trail and the Summit Trail, but nothing too difficult.

The scenery is beautiful with a wide variety of desert vegetation and lots of birds. The first part of the trail also has a lot of boulder formations to add to the mix. And, then you get the great views as you climb Brown's Mountain. My panoramic shot doesn't do it justice.

I did run into about ten groups of hikers and five mountain bikers. And, it's definitely more congested near the parking area. However, once I was back on the trail a bit, it felt more secluded - though never completely 'out there'.

Maps are available at the trail head or you can print them from the City of Scottsdale website (http://www.scottsdaleaz.gov/preserve). They are helpful to get a good overview of all the trail options. Like I said, everything is well marked so don't worry about getting too creative. You'll find the right route.

My new fave. Lots of variety - steep hills, if you want them, to long open spaces of rolling terrain. Huge park that links to Pima/Dynamite TH and Granite Mountain TH. Don’t be put off by a nearly full parking lot on the weekend - the park is so big that it feels like your the only person there once you get out about a mile.

Great mountain biking trails - easy to moderate. A bit crowded with hikers near the parking area for a mile or so, so be careful / courteous. Connect several trails and loops for a 15-20 mile ride. Mostly smooth packed dirt with some rocks. Somewhat more technical as you go north. Fun ride!

Really nice alternative hike to Gateway or Tom's Thumb. Could be a new routine hike

For an easy hike, it’s a beautiful one. Though driving through many neighborhoods to get to the trailhead, you feel like you’re much further out of town once you’re there. This trail is very well maintained. A lovely walk.

Cone Mountain at sunrise is breathtaking. You really feel like you’ve driven much further out of town than you have with the solitude this area projects.

There is an entire trail system that leads through breathtaking scenery. We took that path that lead over the peak and down on the the side. Although the AllTrails map looks like the trail ends before it connects, no worries it connects. We went towards the evening and enjoyed the gorgeous colors when the sun started setting.

This beautiful hike is great for all hikers, beginners, and advanced. The main hike is flat and easy, but the preserve also has difficult hikes for the more adventurous. It also has tons of wildlife that you don't see as much in the main Phoenix area, such as Cactus wrens, vultures, snakes, tortoises, javelina, deer, and tarantulas.10/10 would hike again

An easy to moderate hike. Very enjoyable loop and perfect evening temperature.

A fun trail that winds and undulates around Cone Mt that you can link with Brown's Mt in a figure 8 pattern. It's not a moderate bike trail, it's easy, with lots of small ascents and descents. A pretty trail typifying the beauty of the area.

The loop they have on here is pretty crappy. For some real fun climb browns mountain from the north and descent from the south.

Did this one yesterday. Well maintained trailhead, plenty of parking. We went in the afternoon...had a nice breeze the entire time, which helped with the heat. Saw a few walkers, and a few mtn bikers, but most people were off on other trails. Also got to see a very active honeybee hive in the base of a large rock around the south side, and witnessed a moving bee swarm when we got back to the trail head (a rare thing to see). Great day.

The address when you hit directions takes you to Brown's Ranch Trailhead. We found no sign anywhere for Pima Dynamite Trail. The description of Pima Dynamite sounds the same as the Brown's Ranch Trailhead. A steward on the trail told us that Pima Dynamite was likely the name 15 or 20 years ago. None the less, the trail and the preserve was beautiful. We did a hour and a half hike beginning on Brown's Ranch, to Upper Ranch and looped back to parking. There are maps on site.

Nice variety of terrain part of a much bigger trail system of all challenges. Not as crowded as the rest of the mcdowell system of trails

Beautiful easy walk/hike. Easily one of my favorites to do in this area. Slight rolling hills and zig zags between large saguaros. Just love it!

Very scenic trail. Very flat and easy going. Half of the group we were with took the trail going over the mountain. They said it was a pretty steep climb and a little slippery going up and down, due to loose gravel.

For the most part, the trail is very well posted. Using this app I followed someone else's route and clearly they got slightly lost along the way, as we in turn did. While there are lots of trail signs, the issue for me was that I was strictly following the track on the app and had no idea what trail name(s) I was supposed to be following. There are several Trail names listed on the signs along the way. So you have to pay attention to the route (trail name) you want to take, and take one of the maps at the start of the Trailhead. Not sure that the map would have helped me though - I didn't take one. Overall it's a great trail.
