Getting There

Turkey Creek Trail No. 92 is open to horse, bike, and foot use. The trail is difficult for biking, but moderate for hikers. Beautiful scenery and great view from the top of the mountain. Bring your hiking poles because the last portion is a bit steep but otherwise it’s a fairly flat trail. Definitely not hard, even the last portion that is uphill was moderate as long as you’ve been hydrating, bring plenty of water since there is hardly any shade.

Hiking

Two climbs with a lot of nice flats in between. Great views on final climb to top of House Mountain, though the top itself has no view. Twin Pillars has some neat photo spots at the top. Nice way to spend the day from lower Turkey Creek parking area. Very quiet trails.

HikingGreat!

This was a nice hike with a rewarding view at the top. We parked in the lower lot which was partially full. I wish the description to the upper lot had been better because we could have easily made it in our Subaru Forester. I won't complain too much as the trail from the lower lot to the trail head was nice. On a holiday weekend Saturday we saw one runner at the beginning of our hike, were passed by one mountain biker mid-way, and were passed by a trail runner as we neared the top. We had the trail to ourselves the rest of the hike. This was the perfect winter hike. Lots of wildlife along the way and I think I may have smelled a javalina.

RunningGreat!

I came here on a Thursday morning around 9:30AM and parked at the first parking lot near the main road since I don't have a high clearance vehicle. That parking lot had 1 other car, and I saw the owners of that car as I started my run. I went to Two Pillars first and then ran along this until about half a mile past the Turkey Creek sign. Views were alright, a bit boring, and it had some small elevation here and there but nothing too bad. Got back to my car around 11:20AM and there were about 6 cars parked there, ran into some people as well on the way back.

Great hike and some really beautiful views. Not a heavily traveled trail. We did not do the very last ascent of about 3 tenths of a mile. It was a group decision. Well worth the hike.

I’d agree this was moderate but more on the easier side. The beginning is pretty flat but then it starts to pick up and there’s a great view at the end. It would be pretty hot in the summer with the lack of shade but was great midday in December! Just as a heads up, the 1/2 mile leading up to the trailhead is very rocky and uneven so if you have a lower car you should be careful.

Nice trail with pretty views. Not many people, but it's July. We started as soon as the park opened at 8 am, but it got hot quickly.

This was a nice trail, with a steep ending. Otherwise it was just slightly rolling or flat for the most part. We did it on a very hot day, limited shady spots for taking a break. Only passed one other person while we were out there.

Beautiful trail that cuts through off-shoots of the creek. Gets very steep near the end. No high-clearance vehicle is necessary to access the trailhead. This trail connects to the House Mountain OHV trail at the end.

We did the trail Friday Feb. 28. Great trail. Not difficult. Made it to the top of House Mountain and saw an old abandoned Jeep crashed near the top. Did not see this mentioned in any other reviews. Has anyone else seen this?

Easy to miss the trail, there is little to no signs. Feels very disorienting when there’s so many forks in the trail.

HikingNo shade

First, you'll need a vehicle with high clearance to make the trail head, or budget another 1.5 miles to hike in/out. Did this trail in August. Best to start early in the morning, you'll hike in shade. Budget 3 hours, 2 for ascent and one for descent. Well marked, but pay attention and bring water. No one else around, and unparalleled views. Great sense of accomplishment after completing it.
