Requires no permit and a beautiful canyon for hiking. Turkey Creek--Aravaipa Canyon is about 4.6 miles long and located near Parsons Grove, Arizona. The trail is great for hiking and normally takes 1-3 hours. Wonderful views, especially of one of the most intact cliff dwellings in the southeast part of the state. No permit required.

The mile and a half from the trailhead with the first parking area to the tiny second parking area at the actual trailhead is best done with a high clearance vehicle. My stock Tacoma off-road handled it fine in 2WD. There are several water crossings between the trailheads. The second parking area has room for 3 vehicles with the potential for parking in a wash when it’s dry. This was a short, sweet trail, still does not require a permit. Lots of wildlife- birds, javelina, and deer. I even saw a group of very large wild turkeys this weekend. Some mosquitos and bugs festering even with the cooler weather. Let me put one last word out there, though- bear. Definitely had signs and heard one on my hike yesterday. Come prepared.
