Good walk but the ramp at rural/Scottsdale is under construction so I wasn’t able to go across the lake there. McClintock ramp was not a good choice last time I was here either.

I would likely do this trail again as it avoids the issue I had with the longer trail at Tempe town lake that they did not complete the path on the north side of McClintock. This part of the trail though is a nice walk.

The trail is a nice paved loop. It can be used to connect several trails together. On the north side, the Grand Canal, the Crosscut Canal and the Indian Bend Wash trails. The south side of this loop is part of the Rio Salado Pathway running from Dobson Rd in Mesa to 15th Ave in Phoenix. You can ride south a few miles to connect to more canal paths. The cons. It is used a lot for organized walks, marathons, triathlons etc. Sunday I was going to cross the lake on Mill Ave. It was closed. So was Lakeview Dr. Also Scottsdale Rd. It would be nice if road/trail closures were announced better. This isn't the first time this has happened to me.

This part of the trail is well built, and even has a lot of lights if you want to use it at night. Like a previous commenter said, it's not easily apparent how to take the entire loop, due to the construction. I actually continued on past the main parts of the trail in both directions as you can see in my recording. It was a nice bike ride. Outside of this main trial section, the trail is not always amazingly scenic or anything- lots of ugly electric posts. :(

First to Review

This trail does not go all the way around. The bridge to cross over does not have a way back on the trail on the other side of the lake. At least not right away, hard to see since there’s construction going on. Hope this makes sense. I’ll try and take a pic for reference
