Easily accessible, short, in-town hike. Popular for joggers and dog-walkers. Short enough to be great for kids, but still offers rewarding views of metro Phoenix. There are bathrooms and water located at the trailhead. The first mile of this trail is a textured concrete surface for easy walking. The trail then splits off to continue on to Telegraph Pass, or on to The Desert Classic Trail. The remaining one mile of Telegraph Pass Trail ends at the Summit Road, and offers quick access to the National Trail and the Kiwanis Trail within the park upon reaching the roadway. The Desert Classic Trail continues on for about 9 miles through the foothills on the south side of South Mountain and terminates at the south ramada area in Pima Canyon. Some Hohokam petroglyphs can be seen along this trail.

Great quick up and back trail. Very rocky so you’ll need good shoes and even a walking stick would be good for coming back down. Lots of other trails connect to the top of Telegraph so you could easily spend all day hiking. Pretty straight up and not many places for shade so wearing hats and/or sunscreen is a must.

A beautiful February morning on the trail. A little slow with a 5 year old but really good. Busy trail with families, hikers, and runners. Well maintained and easy to follow.

Busy as always but beautiful day & great weather. Cool weather helped us ascend quickly. The trailhead is well maintained with bathrooms, benches, and water fountains.

Trail is paved starting at the parking lot. It then turns into a dirt trail and it get rockier as you go up higher. Some of the steps get higher towards the top, but very doable. There is a bench at the top, right as you hit the paved road. Definitely not a hard trail. And not long at all. But you can always continue on other nearby trails. Overall a nice trail for a leisurely hike.

This is a nice little hike that most everyone should be able to do fairly easily. Don't let the first part of the trail, which is paved, fool you. The "hardest" part of the trail is very rocky. I was surprised there was a road was a little bit of traffic at the top of the pass. I continued up to the Lookout where I had a nice break.

Still love this hike when I want something quick and easy. Some parts are a little steep but overall a relatively easy hike. About an hour out & back.

We did about 4.8 miles up to Telegraph Pass Lookout The parking lot was not full when we got there mid morning. We did Kiwanis to National to Ranger to Las Lomitas Trail Loop in the South Mountain Preserve. It was an easy hike. There were a couple of dogs doing it without any problems. The Kiwanis trail was busier but when we got to the rest of the trail and onto the loop, we only saw a couple of hikers. On the ridge, you get some nice views of the city.

Combined this with the Kiwanis Trail to make it a 5-mile out and back hike. It was a good little workout to the top of Telegraph Pass, then we hit Kiwanis Trail - which was an easy to moderate hike both ways, so it was a nice add-on. We also trekked up to the lookout tower which added a bit more elevation gain to get the blood pumping, but nothing too difficult. Telegraph Pass Trail was not too busy on an early Monday morning but the crowds were picking up as we finished. There was next to no traffic on the Kiwanis Trail.

Decent hike. Short and steep, great for sprinters but super busy during weekends. Great view up top. The parking lot was just redone and is pretty nice. Once you get to the street go right and continue the trail. Once you get to the Little Rock house keep going to see the summit and both sides of the mountain. Love this hike.

This trail is moderate for me. The trail started paved from the parking lot and farther a bit rocky but it wasnt bad. There were so much people hiked with dogs and biked today. I want to to do this trail again and perhaps go farther to the Pyramid trail.

Starts easily enough with a paved trail from the parking lot and then progressively gets rockier and more vertical, but nothing difficult. You'll see dogs, bikers, and people of all ages. There's a bench at the top where it meets the road and you can connect to other trails near there. I recommend heading up to Dobbins Lookout once you're there since it's so close by.

Nice 1 hour total up and down hike at a leisurely pace. Not a lot of people starting at 8 am, so that was nice. On the way down LOTS of people. Go early, if you like peace and quiet when you hike.

This was a great work out for a short hike because you go up for about a half an hour. You can continue on to join other trails which makes it even more fun. It is heavily populated with runners and walkers so go early. Very rocky so you definitely need good boots. My dog was able to do it without a problem. There’s not a lot of parking.
