Not exactly hiking but not sure what to call it. Think of the worst beach you’ve ever been to and worsen by ten. Terrible footing and walking in a sand filled concrete culvert for two miles is not enjoyable at all. So many real trails do not bother with this one.

Honestly, the first half of this trail is walking through sand in the wash which is about 2 miles. It's surrounded by the neighborhood houses above, so that makes it even less nature like. It's not well marked or seems used much. If you like walking through sand for a couple of miles you might enjoy it, however we did not.

I like this alternate way up Sunrise Peak! More challenging and less crowded!
The trailhead only allows about 5 cars, but it's rarely a problem.
Having hiked on the main trail to the peak before, I wanted to try something different. It's fun!
You follow the wash out of the neighborhood before connecting to the main Sunrise trail coming from Lost Dog.
There are a few rough spots to climb, but not too bad. You clamber over the boulders in the wash. And pass under a couple bridges with neat designs on the walls. I say if you want a little something different, give this trail a try!
