Great trail with beautiful 360 views at the top. There was A LOT of ice and snow on the trail in mid-February. Definitely need hiking sticks to stay on the mountain when this is the case. The weather was beautiful, just not melted on the side of the mountain where the sun doesn’t hit. We had the top to ourselves at the fire tower and only met 2 people coming down as we went up. My kind of trail!

Beautiful and very underrated trail! I found the parking lot for this trailhead by making a wrong turn and decided to hike it because of how short it was. The hike to the top is short but goes all around the mountain with a beautiful 360 view of the canyon waiting for you at the top along with some history of the monument.

Pretty view from the old abandoned fire watch tower at the top. Interesting info regards visible remnants of Turkey Creek caldera, which created the rhyolite in an explosion 1,000 times more powerful than Mt. St. Helens. The mineral, essentially compress pumice, eroded over the ensuing 27 million years to form the unique pinnacles, balanced rocks and segmented vertical columns in the Monument.

Did this on 3/1/2019. Lots of snow and ice on the north face of the trail. So be careful. Great little “easy” hike with a BIG, BIG payoff. As everyone has already written, the views are outstanding.

A relatively short hike on a well maintained trail. Not near as strenuous as it looks from the bottom. Worth the views over the canyon.

Pretty quick up and down. Payoff at the top is fantastic--views of valleys and canyons for miles around. Kids enjoyed the feeling of getting to the top.

Really short but cool trail. You get to go through a small man-made tunnel, which was a surprise. The view on top is incredible. Awesome view of the monument park in addition to the valley and nearby mountains. I'd venture to say it's the best trail in the park.

Beautiful views for sure. We took our grandchildren up this trail. They really enjoyed it and especially enjoyed the ranger who was at the top. She took a lot of time with them. Awesome views!

The Chiricahua mountain range is just beautiful, no matter what trail you are on. This hike is easy as long as you are not affected by the elevation. Make sure to bring lots of water! The views are astounding of some amazing volcanic rock formations that are great to climb around on if you are into Bouldering at all. It is a steady climb that goes around the mountain until you reach the summit which is a ranger station, where they monitor wild fires from, in the summer time. I wouldn't want to get caught in a Monsoon up there, but if you do, there are some dugouts along the trail that could be used for shelter until the storm passes. I didn't see much animal life except for birds riding the wind which was pretty strong when I went, but there was some evidence of animals living up there. Keep your eyes peeled for a Coatimundi!
