The bugs were really really awful on the trail when we were here.

Some trails will close tomorrow due to too many people. There was a 1/2 mile area I past about 12 people. Other than that there were very few on the trails.

Hiked the trail this afternoon (Fri.) A little traffic here and there, but mostly we were by ourselves. Great variety in terrain, elevation, cacti, wild flowers. I tracked just over 4 miles. Creek was flowing but the foot bridges were adequate. A little muddy in spots, but you can still get around on dry ground mostly. Very enjoyable!

So beautiful! We started out earlier than most, and didn’t run into anyone until about 1/2 way through. Loads of flowers, but after tomorrow’s rain I bet things will explode. Saw a lizard and lots of birds. The variety in terrain is what we really enjoyed. Loved the flowing creek contrasting the cactus. Had some steeper places, but we are out of shape (as reflected in our time, lol) but managed quite well. Glad we did this as our last hike in AZ!

I really enjoyed this trail. It was a pretty easy trail (some short climbs and just a few rocky areas where a little bit of careful stepping is needed). I took my dog out and he’s not much for water, but I loved walking along the creek, as well as seeing the interesting mix of desert and river plants. It’s not a super challenging workout, but it’s a great trail for anybody who’s either just up for a nice long walk through some awesome scenery or maybe a little newer to hiking and would like a pretty place to get started.

This was a great trail. A little step up from those trails closer to phoenix. What makes it different is the chance to see deer (we saw two), a creek (depending on time of year), and a little more tree coverage in some places. Slightly cooler temps too. **One note: we entered at the southern trailhead. When we got out on the northern part we noticed a section for paying $3. **

Great little hike! Started at spur cross main trail head and crossed over to dragonfly when we came to the sign and ended at the parking lot - about 3.7 miles total, 1.5 hrs. Lots of cactus and great views! Even big trees when walking along the creek bottom.

This is the one trail I do EVERY trip to the Phoenix area. I would rate it on the easy side of moderate, and perfect to warm up for harder hikes. What makes this trail is the saguaro. In my opinion you get a better selection of saguaros on this trail than at any of the National Parks/Monuments in Arizona. The riparian forest around Dragonfly trail (the final portion of the hike) is exceedingly rare in the Phoenix area. It’s the end of May and there is still plenty of running water! Due to this watershed (perhaps) I generally find the desert flowers and cactuses bloom here more abundantly. There are some nice petroglyphs, but only one is directly on the trail. The rangers might help locate others. Overall, a pleasant hike with beautiful things to look at all the way through.

This trail is well marked, maintained and overall beautiful. So many cactus. It’s like a cactus sea. Perfect day, fairly easy. Beautiful wildflowers along the way. A nice quiet stream to dip your feet in on a hot day. I’d definitely visit again.

The trail was absolutely stunning today. The wildflowers and flora were at their best. The rugged terrain all around made for incredible views. Add to the walk along the river. How often do you see rapids in AZ.
