Getting There

Parking is limited so you may need to park at the Jordan trailhead or at the Teacup parking lot and hiked the Teacup trail to Soldiers Pass, which will add over a mile each way. Please visit the park website for more updated information. Great hike with amazing views. You will want to bring sunscreen and water as there is little shade. This trail can also get relatively crowded, check out the waypoints for an alternate starting point if the trailhead marked here gets too crowded. The loop is great either direction, and there is also an optional turn off for the mesa if you want to add a little distance and elevation.

Be sure to bring a lot of water, this trail gets hot.

From junction 89A and 179, take 89A west to Solider Pass Road. Go 1.5 miles to Rim Shadows Drive, then right 0.2 miles (keep straight ahead where Rim Shadows branches left) to a gated entry road to trailhead parking on the left.

This is a most beautiful hike, not too difficult with breathtaking scenery and vegetation. I can highly recommend this hike. It also wasn‘t very crowded.

Seven Sacred Pools is a short and easy trail, if you keep going to the cave it’s more of an incline and moderate. The caves are beautiful! Look out for Debbie in her red van Friday to Monday, she will take you to the starting point of the trail because there’s not much parking close by. She accepts Venmo!

So fun and scenic. Good shade, amazing look out points. Went off the trail a bit but was easy to get back.

we parked at the Jordan Road Trailhead. 7:40 AM on a wednesday and we were the 3rd car in the lot that fit around 30. America the Beautiful pass works here! started west on Cibola pass until it met up with Soldier Pass Trail. there was one spot on this trail that had a great view of the valley with towering rocks basking in morning sun. the soldier pass section up to seven pools was fine, passed a few groups but nothing crazy. we liked the pools a lot, and they (thankfully) had plenty of water in them to make for a good photo! there was a 4x4 tour there at the same time so we learned a little about the pools too :) continued for a bit up the trail but actually missed the turn off for the cave. there was no sign with "Cave ^ " or anything. it was just a bend in the main trail, with a fork to the side. suggest using GPS to figure out *which* of these off chutes to the right were the right one. once found the trip up to the cave was exactly as described. steep, steps, lots of rocks, and a little scrambly at times. but yeah, i agree it was worth it. just for how 'neat' that cave and nook are. it is tricky to get into and out of the nook, and definitely requires hands and feet. after getting back on the soldier pass trail headed north, we hiked up to meet the brins mesa trail. up on the mesa the vegetation was my dryer than below in the valley. great walking up there with spectacular views of *another* valley and mega rocks mountains on the way down. then back to valley vegetation again with taller trees and birds. my GPS clocked 6 miles total of walking (6.5 if you count our backtrack to find the missed cave trail). so i guess the cave is about a half mile off the mail loop. i would recommend doing this loop clockwise (like we did) because all of the "uphill first half" we didnt really notice due to the changing scenery and pools and caves and BAM, already at the top!

RunningGreat!

Nice little loop, no snow, in the 50's. Moderate trail with some steep rocky sections on the East side (Brins Mesa Trail). Seven Sacred Pools were a little underwhelming. All your great views are going to be on the East and North (Brins Mesa). Sinkhole was a neat feature. Bring a map (or Alltrails maps) because there are a lot of jaunts and other trails that periodically feed or diverge from this loop. Heading back to the Jordan trailhead parking, would've missed it if I had continued to follow the signs for Jordan. Luckily consulted Alltrails at the fork and confirmed that we needed to jump on Cibola to get back. Park at trailhead at end of Jordan Rd, not Soldier's Pass.

I would consider this trail moderate to hard. The signs are hard to follow. We had a crew of 8 kids and adults. Ended up on a different trail. Instead of the 4 miles and lower gain, we ended at 6.8 miles and over 1800 gain. BUT it was so worth it. You’ll miss the cave if you aren’t paying attention. It was very busy so we were unable to see it. The views are beautiful.

Really beautiful trail. We ended up going up to the caves so with that addition it’s like 7 miles with a 1,300 total elevation gain. The caves get busy, so recommend going early. If you want to do the loop I recommend starting at Jordan since the parking lot is larger and less populated.

Loved this loop trail. Thankful for the app when we occasionally took a detour off the loop. We got lucky with a parking spot. This is more than 5 miles with elevation involved. We took our time and it took us 3.5 hours. (We are in our late 50s and in decent shape..... not marathoners but active 50 somethings. )

The trail is long but mild and has several attractions. Came across the Devil’s Sinkhole, an enormous site with a huge chunk of rock that had fallen into it. Seven Sacred Pools was okayish. Went on a detour to the Cave - the best part!!! Getting to the Cave involves climbing up slippery sandy rocks and crawling under a fallen tree trunk. The sight was stunning when you reach the top, sunlight seeping in through the cracks of the cave - lots of pictures taken and posted. It’s super crowded. Many were lined up to climb a narrow stack of vertical rocks to get to the upper layer of the cave. We didn’t bother to get in... The rest of the trail was pleasant and great views as always. We saw various plants, berries, pinecones, and a cute little bluebird flying through the bushes. Highly recommended!! Taking a detour to the cave was fun. It’s not part of the trail map.

Great views and good variety with the sink hole, pools, and mesa, and of course all the red rocks for which Sedona is famous We saw a number of birds including Western Bluebirds, Dark-eyed juncos, and Robins near Brins Mesa. My only beef with this hike is inadequate parking at either the Soldier's pass or Jordan trailheads. We parked closer to town and walked in, adding 2 miles to our hike.

Definitely longer than 5 miles plus we added the caves so should have been a total of 7-8 miles but soooooo worth it. Amazing amazing hike throughout.

Loved this hike! So many incredible views. The pools were flowing with water after the recent rain. So the trail was a little muddy, but not too bad. Worth every step! Do check out the view from the rock on top of the Mesa. Amazing 360 views!
