This is just a short scenic hike on an easy to follow trail up to see the petroglyphs on Signal Hill. Lots of posted warnings about African Bees but I didn’t have any problem.

This is a very short trail that goes up a small incline to a scenic overlook and petroglyphs. We went in mid March on a weekday, so I was surprised to see a large number of people. I would think that spring on the weekends would be even more busy. The trail can be found down a bumpy dirt road. Be careful on your choice of vehicle for this. The drivers of some ‘fancier’ cars seemed less than comfortable on the road. The trailhead starts at a picnic area with a vault toilet and numerous grill pits. It’s difficult to identify which is the correct trail, but many end up joining as you progress. The trail is dirt with some rocky stairs leading up to the top area, where the petroglyphs can be found. I enjoyed this trail but it’s less of a hike and more of a short walk. The desert landscape was beautiful and I was surprised how close you can get to the petroglyphs. Don’t forget to visit the Red Hills visitor center to pay the entrance fees first. It’s not too far, but it’d be frustrating to get all the way to the hike and then need to go all the way back out.

This short (0.25 mile) trail is a climb up a hill to see dozens of petroglyphs. The trail is short but steep with a lot of stairs. The view from the top is nice!

The view of the saguaros is fantastic and the ancient petroglyphs were really cool. I'd never seen anything like that before. The trail itself is short and very easy. It's more of a sightseeing experience than a hike so go with that in mind. Would definitely go again.

Short trail across a wash and up a rocky hill to a nice view. Evidence of Indian activity is obvious.
