This loop starts at Carefree Hwy and 7th Ave, be aware there is limited parking at the trailhead. The Ocotillo part of the trail is relatively flat and the Sidewinder part has some good elevation changes. Great Sonoran Desert scenery and views. This loop can get busy with mountain bikes and has some moderate elevation changes on the sidewinder part of the trail. The ocotillo trail gets close to Dove Valley road in a few places, other than that you are well into the desert. Watch out for snakes, although mountain bikes usually make enough noise to keep them away from trails. There is no water at the trailhead or on the trail - take at least 2 liters! There is also no shade available.

Sidewinder is beautiful. It’s a bit higher elevation and has much more variety than the Ocatillo trail which is lower down in the valley. It is really well marked and has map scans on each trail beginning and even along the way so it’s really hard to get lost. Lots of parking here now on Carefree highway and seventh Street

This is a great trail with plenty of varied terrain and a favorite to ride. Disappointed lately to see dog poop not being picked up and ruts in the trail formed from mountain bikes riding while it's still wet.

First time out on this trail. As an avid hiker, this loop was extremely easy. Although it's a great trail for joggers and bikers. Well groomed for the weekend, novice hikers. Needs more elevation gain..

Ocotillo-Sidewinder Loop. I enjoyed the Sidewinder Trail while the Ocotillo Trail is pretty flat and boring.

A fun, fast, and challenging mountain biking opportunity. One of my favorite places to ride.

Nice loop with varying difficulty. Ocotillo part is flat and fairly easy, the Sidewinder part had a lot of elevation change. There were a lot of mountain bikes on the trail, and also several sightings of rattlesnakes (April). Great scenery but you do get close to roads in some places. There are several access point onto the trail, so it can get quite busy.
