This is really what is called the Hackberry Spring loop. There are tons of new signs and they have rerouted the trail out of Hackberry Spring to the horse trailer lot. It is a great hike but the description above is outdated. Actually had to give directions to people today who were lost. But it is a super pretty hike and well worth hiking. From First Water hike up to Second Water trail, look for the Hackberry Spring sign on your left once you are at the top of the Mesa. Follow the sign for Hackberry Spring back to the Horse Trailer lot. Right across the road you will see a sign for the Dutchman trail, go left and take it 1/2 mile back to the First water trailhead. From the Horse Trailer lot look for the trail entrance at the back of the lot. Follow the Hackberry Spring sign until you reach Second Water trail. Fo right on Second Water and follow down to the First Water trailhead. Look to the left of the road leading into the lot for the Dutchman trail, follow 1/2 mile to the horse trailer lot.

You’re gonna want a vehicle that you’re comfortable taking off road in order to get to the trail head. There’s a bathroom at the trail head which is very convenient. There were a few spots that even with the app it took a minute to stay on the trail. All in all a good hike. Definitely plan to hike again!

Excellent hiking weather. I left at 8am and enjoyed the morning dew. Seen a buck and a few doe. What a lovely lively hike. I will highly recommend to friends.

great for dogs who love water, still bring a ton of water for them though because you gotta sweat a little before you hit the water.

Combined Garden Valley trail with Hackberry Springs. Just over two hours. Fantastic scenery!

A beautiful 5-mile hike with a little bit of everything - valleys, canyons, flat ground, water, a cool breeze and perfect temperatures. Hackberry Springs was running shallow and the sound of water running was a nice accompaniment to the hike.
