This is a nice mild level trail to start, once you start your incline to the top of the hill you begin to increase elevation rather quickly. This would explain the rating of Moderate, this hike has beautiful views and is a nice afternoon adventure. This is a beautiful trail in the McDowell Mountain Region, it is a wonderful area to get out and hike or ride the trails.

I would really rate this as easy, but so enjoyable. The majority of this trail is flat. There’s typically a little breeze on the ridge of the hill. For relaxation, it’s one of my favorites.

Scenic is a perfect name for this trail. It is ver picturesque and an easy trail to hike. Looking forward to hiking this one again in the spring. Would be beautiful to see with flowers in bloom.

Great hike for people visiting Phoenix and want a scenic hike.

Beautiful, fairly easy hike with little elevation change. The views of the other mountains are worth it.

I like the inclined trails! Perfect for a family or for someone who wants a long walk, but for thrill seekers, it’s not a win...also, I didn’t find it “scenic” in comparison to other trails at McDowell Mountain. It worked for the people I was with though!

I loved this hike.

It was so peaceful.

I ran into a multiple bikers but very very few hikers.

The views are great but there is no shade or cover from the sun.

Beware if you d it with dogs, do it very early AM or when under 80. Our GSD is a good hiker and in great shape, and even though we did it in under 80 degrees she was got really tired in the end, and there are not too many shaded areas on the ridge, so make sure to have plenty of water. A camera is a must on a clear day, there are some breath taking views to the east. I prefer doing it south to north (sort of...) if you can, meaning when coming from the staging area, enter the scenic trail from the 2nd intersection with Pemberton, not the 1st one.

Beautiful flowers and views

Nice loop trail especially in spring, pre-sunset when colorful fields are illuminated in golden sunlight.

Easy desert trail. Recommend starting on the north portion of the trail to get the best views. Was about 2 weeks too late for the wildflowers and 2 weeks too early for the cactus bloom. Would be beautiful at sunrise.

Pretty standard desert hike. Not a lot going on in all honesty, not a lot of desert wildlife, etc. As others have said there are much better hikes in the area.

It was not fun! Too many big rocks on the downhill parts. There are too many really great trails nearby to waste time on this one!

Nice hike. Starts out as a easy flat hike and then builds up the side of the hill. Great views from up top. Glorious

My first hike ever! I took my 5 year old and we finished in just over 2 hours. I thought it was a nice balance.

Very easy hike with beautiful views of the park and nearby fields. Wasn't very crowded, only came across a few bikes and maybe 3 or 4 groups of people. Nice and quiet to wind down from Thanksgiving!

This hike was very easy. Don't forget $6.00 for parking, I suggest having exact change because there may not be anyone at the gate and you have to leave the fee in an envelope. Anyway, this hike was pretty, but not at all a challenge. This trail is better for leisure walks with a dog, beginning mountain bikers or a nice trail jog.
