Easy Class 1 rapids that go about 1/2 mile past the tube exit area. Great trip to do with a large group.

I like to hike along the banks of the Salt River during the low-water/winter months. (And hop in my kayak when they release the water later in the Spring) Lots of birds and the wild horses are almost always present. This late afternoon and evening were no exception. I traversed from Blue Point to Goldfield and continued down toward Coons Bluff. Gorgeous views of the water and unequalled peace. Primary species seen: Lesser Yellow Legs, Harris’ Hawk, Gila Woodpecker, Phainopepla, Great Blue Heron, Aberts Towhee, Bald Eagle, Snowy Egret, Kingfisher, Gambel’s Quail, Black Phoebe, Curve-billed Thrasher, Western Bluebird, Cooper’s Hawk,

So much fun! Great for any skill level too. Renting a kayak is the easiest option— a bus will pick you up at your desired location and take you back to your car. Take a friend!

This is a wonderful EASY kayaking trip. It is really more of a float trip and one of the regular activities on which I take my out of town guests. I typically book a two hour trip through Saguaro Lake Ranch. The last several times I have seen wild horses on the river banks. Go as early as possible to avoid the heat and the tubers (which usually start around 9 am).
