Saguaro National Park West and Old Tucson Studios Scenic Drive is a 39.2 mile moderately trafficked loop trail located near Tucson, Arizona that offers the chance to see wildlife and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, nature trips, and scenic driving and is accessible year-round.
A Scenic Loop Drive with many side activities such as hiking, photography, educational and just plain fun. This Scenic drive will take you through Tucson Mountain Park and Saguaro National Park West. You will enjoy beautiful mountain/rock formations and stands of saguaro cactus. I found it to be quite surreal the first time I took this drive. I loved this drive so much I bought a place on the far west side of the park and drive through here almost every day. From Interstate-10 go west on Speedway toward the Tucson Mountains. The name of the road changes to Gates Pass Blvd at Camino de Oeste. The drive itself can be done in a few hours but depending on the other activities it could easily occupy several days. Alternate Route option: There is a section of the drive that is a dirt road. If you do not want to drive the dirt road you can bypass it by staying straight on Sandario until you get to a 4 way stop. Turn right onto Picture Rocks Rd and continue as per directions on POI 10.
