Recoil Peak via Mosaic Trail is a 2.6 mile moderately trafficked out and back trail located near Tucson, Arizona that features beautiful wild flowers and is rated as moderate. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, and running.
I chose this trail as an easy trail for a friend who has lupus and bad knees trying to get back in shape. She was able to make it 3/4 of the way without too much difficulty, which is what I was aiming for. The views were pretty. We ventured off the trail a couple of times, and took it slowly. We started a little after 6 am in Tucson August and the heat was tolerable.
Nice trails, pretty quiet and good scenery. The first time I visited this preserve I just did the prescribed alltrails route. Today, my second time visiting I took the yellow slingshot trail where I saw an awesome crested saguaro. Also went to the top of the Bacitracin Summit, a short spur (which I almost didn't do out of laziness - but I"m so glad I did!) where there is a gorgeous solitary bench with a beautiful nature themed mosaic. Upon doing these extra trails I bumped this preserve up from a 4 to a 5, with the new fun elements I discovered. Follow my instagram for more adventures @julie_journeys
Easy to get to (just off Anklam) and pretty enough. Downer is that you can see busy roads (Speedway and Silverbell perhaps) and that dampens the experience. And views of Tucson better from Tumamoc. Today Edwin and I almost stepped on a rattlesnake on the way out! We just did an out and back as loop would have been too long and not worth it given the other factors. Still, glad we tried it.
This hike was easy. It gets very rocky and steep near the end especially when you climb on top of that final hill. There’s more to the trail system than the highlighted path shown here. Very nice.
The wonderful trail volunteers have expanded the trails in this section. You can now make this a loop trail with a couple different length loops depending on how far you desire to go. It can be between 2 and 4 miles. Dog friendly. Easy terrain suitable for everyone between 4 and 84 years young. Thanks again to the volunteers who made this trail possible.
Nice trail easily hiked but runs alongside a fairly busy road much of the way.
this trail was not what i expected. I was expecting a short easy run but its longer than 2 miles with some switchbacks and some heavy climbs up loose rock. I would say this trail is moderate. this trail is beautiful though and very light traffic which i enjoy. its worth it. i will go back to see how far it really is.
