This map is NOT of Max Delta. It is part of Max Delta, however that is not the trailhead, and if you follow this you will find you end MD and go onto two other trails. The trailhead to Max Delta actually starts much further away at the South Mountain Park/Preserve - Ranger Station and is a point to point trail that ends at the San Juan parking lot. Following this map you then cross the lot and take the last part of the Bajada trail to where it meets up with the ranger tail and back to the ranger tail parking lot. Then you can follow this map that wanders through picnic areas where you can meetup with the first part of the MD trail you were on so you can get back to the trailhead, or meetup with the road that is outside the ranger trailhead and take that partway back to where you can meetup the actual trail again, or just stay on it past the ranger station and take the road all the way back to the trailhead. If you actually start Max Delta where it actually starts and then follow this path around you will end up doing a little over 6 miles. Here is the actual trail map. https://www.google.com/url?q=https://www.phoenix.gov/parkssite/Documents/PKS_NRD/062879.pdf&sa=U&ved=2ahUKEwjw9syJ0-7eAhUJx58KHYfJA7UQFjADegQICBAB&usg=AOvVaw2nrt04o5okdZlFH8Rbf_JM

Fun, quick hike. It’s cool seeing some of the old mines and structures.

Super Easy trail Great for short Summer Hikes. I hiked it a few times. A lot of the Goldmine ruins are still left. Great Views of Phoenix and Gila Crossing. One day, I was out there and low Clouds where just above the Base of the Mountain. It was so cool.

Hiked Max Delta today. Only 2 miles, so not that long. I actually crossed it a couple times while bushwhacking across the desert. The trail markers show it as MD, which is catchy. Pretty mild as trails go, but it at least leads to some more challenging hikes.

It was around 100 today and humid, but a easy hike. I wasn't sure how this hike would be, but after doing I will comeback and do it again in the spring. There is a lot of cactus and flowers just not blooming now.
Also when I got to the top of the mine and looked north some great views of the valley as well as Phoenix.
