The first half mile is great for trail running. Seemed like it would be easy at first but proved to be a decent workout! Pretty view from the highest point. Good place to stop & rest. Not too busy on a Saturday evening.

Would do this one again but only to the summit. Too many bees and too boring after that point , but great hike!

Great hike. The only challenge is finding a parking spot. The lot at the trailhead is small.

I love this trail, awesome workout that’s rewarded by sweeping views of the valley and tranquility. The first leg of this hike is where all the challenge resides. It’s a steady incline, then a rather steep one where you need watch your steps carefully. There’s a couple natural resting spots along the way if needed to catch breath and hydrate, but once you reach the top, it’s a very easy, leveled trail and pretty well marked. Very peaceful deep into the trail and you are just surrounded by the sounds of nature, pops of the desert bloom colors, and butterflies fluttering around. This is an out and back and the 8A ends rather anticlimactically. Just randomly ends where other trails begin, nothing special about its location or surroundings. On the ascent, it’s rather rocky so be careful on your way back down and enjoy!!

Great hike with the kids age 11, 9, 6 and two dogs. Fun enough for the oldest and challenging enough for the youngest. Thanks to local friends for taking us! Not overly crowded!

The trail was really hard, it definitely should have been rated as hard instead of moderate.

I would rate this on the easier side of moderate. Views of the valley in the beginning and then kind of boring on the backside. Trail just ends abruptly but there are other trails that connect. Overall not bad for an easy day. Very small parking lot at the trailhead and the shopping center across the street has signs that say no hiker parking so park at your own risk.

Great early morning trail (before 7am traffic). Well marked trail and beautiful sunrise views.

Just hiked the Quartz Ridge Trail (8a), which starts right off of Lincoln and 32nd. Super easy to find. Parking wasn't an issue on a cold Tuesday morning. Loved this trail, about 100 feet in and you instantly feel like you're not in the middle of the city. Gradual incline with some ups and downs, eventually leading to the peak, I think? I made it to the first bench, trail seemed to go a little further, but overcoming a cold so didn't want to push it. Clocked in at 2.7 miles...trail listed as 3+ so I'm sure there's a bit more to explore next time. Very well maintained, similar consistent incline to Sunrise Peak, just shorter. Friendly folks and not too crowded at all. Pretty cool rock formations as well... definitely a nice moderate hike in the middle of the city.

This is a lovely hike and definitely not too steep overall. Coming from BC where the crowds can be a deterrent, I did not find this trail overly crowded at all. The blue skies and cool temperatures made for perfect conditions.

Nice moderate trail with some places to rest along the way and good views at the top. Parking is tough a and they do tow you from the lots by the Starbucks across the street!

Always a favorite of mine!! Parking lot is small so you may have to wait sometimes but the wait is worth it. The views are beautiful

Great for trail running! First half is a bit loose and rocky so watch your step if you’re running through. Great little climb up the granite ridge in the middle with a perfect spot to take a break, have a snack, enjoy the view. Back half is gorgeous to run through and connects to another trail if you want to take it further. First bit and top of the ridge can be busy on weekends. Parking is limited so get there early.

Great and varied views. One of the best I've done in Phoenix.

Beautiful hike with great scenery, especially all the cacti varieties. Those sites that describe this trail as easy and handicap accessible are full of crap. This trail may be “moderate” in the context of experienced hikers, but for the novice it’s at least difficult. I’ve hiked it or part of it on 3 out of 5 days and found it wonderful, but quite a workout. I made the mistake of only taking 30 ounces of water today when I started later around 10:00 AM and got a bit lightheaded at one point. The trails off of 8A, i.e., 8B, 202, are less crowded and later in morning, early afternoon when too damn hot there are also less hikers. Fairly crowded in early morning.

Very enjoyable morning walk! Not too strenuous and actually leaves you feeling fresh and ready for the day... my dog loves it and the trail is very well taken care of!

This is the perfect early morning trail for my dog and me. Pretty busy on the weekends though. It’s not difficult, but you definitely feel like you get a good workout in if you keep a good pace.
