In regard to the post from Clare - Im just curious if you have ever seen someone towed... I am a local who has been parking in that shopping plaza for years and have never personally had an issue nor have I known anyone who has been towed from there. I acknowledge there is a sign but from my experience if you aren't a jerk and park in an "incognito" spot there is no issue.

I would agree probably not incredibly smart to park in a spot that is labeled "15 minute pick up".

FYI - DO NOT PARK IN THE SHOPPING PLAZA BESIDE THE CAR PARK. Cars are towed from there and there is a sign saying no hiker parking.

An enjoyable trail in the Phoenix Mountain Preserve. Parking is awful at all times but additional parking can be found across the street in the shopping plaza.

I really enjoyed this trail for what it was. Expect fairly high traffic but the trial itself is wide and well maintained. The first half includes very mild elevation gain into easy switchbacks to the top of the ridge.

*Special note - the second half of the trail is unfortunately disappointing as it meanders down into a small creek and abruptly stops. I recommend picking up trial 8B at the top of the ridge. You will follow it to a higher point where you get a great vista on Piestawa Peak and then drop down. You can then use the Mojave connector (202) to cross back over the ridge and return to your original starting point.

Love Quartz Ridge, and you can vary it up by starting at Squaw Peak northernmost trailhead, 32nd and Lincoln, or 40th St trailheads.

Nice, quick hike that is located in the middle of the city and way less crowded than Camelback. The hike took me a little less than an hour to complete 8A but I did run parts of it.

Pretty flat, but great for a nice run. Beautiful views and not to steep.

Did a cozy Friday afternoon hike at Quartz Ridge today. As many times as I have been to Piestewa Peak Park I had never been to this trailhead before. Piestewa Peak and Quartz Ridge are both part of Phoenix Mountain Preserve and they share trails. The primary trail at Quartz Ridge is the 8A. I had tramped on it before inside Piestewa Peak but today traveled the length from the trailhead. It starts out as a nature hike but gets rugged at the top. There it joins up with the 8B which is prominently located inside Piestewa Peak. I did 4.2 miles out and back. One could easily mount a 10 mile hike by looping between Quartz Ridge and Piestewa Peak. It was a fun neighborhood hike.

Easy hike at a moderate incline not too hard, easy to stay on trail. Dog friendly.

Great trail to get a quick cardio workout, OR just to get away from city for awhile without making a long drive. I do this trail frequently because it's so accessible. Moderate trail as there are good inclines and towards the top a little bit of footwork is necessary.
Parking can be a pain as with all trails in the Phx Mtn Preserve / Camelback. If you wait it out a few moments someone usually back comes down the trail and it opens up.

Nice easy hike with good views of the valley. Wouldn't recommend for hikers with dogs because the trail was really narrow at parts and the other hikers were quite rude to my dogs.

Nice trail-well marked with trail end sign at the end. Pretty rocky in spots.

Great views. Pleasant

A quieter hike that gives you all the views near one of the most traveled trails. It's especially nice to have some variance in the height to keep it interesting instead of all up or down.
