Fun trail, we followed the trail markers the entire time and somehow ended up doing 6 miles which was weird

Perl Charles is the 1A trail. Reach VOAZ either by trailing on the 1A around to the north side of the mountain and then to the VOAZ looking just south from the 1A trail, or connecting to the 1A from 304 as you hike up on the south side of the mountain and then follow the marked connector to VOAZ. Either way, a fun and slightly challenging climb over the mountain.

Trail west to east was pretty good. The first mile or so was along a fairly busy highway, but once I climbed over the first ridge, it quieted down immensely. It had drizzled during my hike and the shale rocks were pretty slick.

Very nice trails with not so nice facilities. no doors on the restrooms, no doggy bag stations like they have in the Scottsdale are. Plenty of trails to choose from, most are numbered and clear.
