Getting There

Park at the very end of Meridian Road, and follow the trail to the left. You will come to a gully and wash. Go down into the gully, and look to your left for a way up the other side. Do not go far down the gully. On the other side of the gully, hook into the Pass Mountain Trail and follow it to the left until you come to the signs for Cat's Peak. Do the loop around Cat's Peak counter clockwise - you can continue all the way around Cat's Peak, or you can get yourself some incredible views by going up and over Cat's Peak. Return the same way you came.

Not sure why it’s rate moderate. This was one of the easiest hikes with a good trail, well marked, and little effort needed. Lots of cholla to walk through but few close to the trail on the backside.

Walking

This is a great trail for walking or biking. I am not sure why it is rated level Moderate. IMO, it is EASY. There was only one portion where we had to walk down into the canyon and then back up it with a slight incline, but even that can be avoided by walking further to cross canyon at a higher point. There are many trails you can take and they are labeled well. There are even a few nice benches to sit and rest. Overall nice trail.

Hard to follow this trail at first. You WILL go down the gully and to the right before turning hard left and back up. Lots cholla in the trail. Dog found 3 different ones.

The pass mountain part of the trail is tough on a bike but Cats Peak is a lot of fun!

Really enjoyed this trail. Definitely recommend using the map, there’s a few spots where it was easy to miss your turn. Took about an hour and a half. Good workout.
