Painted Desert Trail Loop is a 1.4 mile lightly trafficked loop trail located near Wellton, Arizona that features beautiful wild flowers and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, nature trips, and bird watching.
March 17, 2021A great, easy trail. I give it 4 stars bc desert landscape isn’t my favorite. It’s close to the lake and a good beginner hike. I saw some cool and quite large lizards out there, as well as wild donkey.
March 11, 2021Super easy trail with light gravel the entire way and well marked, the road off HW95 has construction leading to one way traffic both ways (add 10min each way). Trail views are amazing, great for entire family.
March 2, 2021This is a beautiful area to hike, and a fun trail even for young children. There is road work on the roads after leaving Hwy 95, so expect delays.

April 14, 2020Nice hike; our gps said it was 1.7 miles. Trail is well marked. Stairs and downgrades were difficult for me as a disabled person. Well maintained trail. Stairs need to be reset.

March 7, 2020This is a nice simple hike. Some elevation gain and up some stairs in the hillside but not too bad. The different colors in the geology are amazing!

March 2, 2020This trail was super cool. Loved the marked points of interest that related to the brochure at the trailhead. We took our time and the 1.3 loop was around 70 minutes. Other reports of mama and baby Bighorn sheep. Also wild Burros bit we only saw two deer on the drive into the trailhead. The visitors center was very cool!!
January 4, 2020Easy hike, I would recommend it to people of most any capability. Well-marked trail through washes or along hilltops giving views of the Colorado River valley and surrounding hills. I would not recommend hiking this trail despite its short length June through August, even September depending on day time temperature.
