The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, and nature trips and is accessible year-round. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.
Petrified Forest National Park charges a fee to enter. Fees are $25 per vehicle or $20 per motorcycle. If you are entering on foot or bike the fee is $15 per person. You can also purchase a park specific annual pass for $45.
lots of kids and foot traffic, good view, don't know why the "trail" as listed here doesn't go up to the lookout at the urn around but it's worth checking out and you are 50 feet from it
This trail wasn’t listed on All Trails, so I just selected one that was and recorded. This was a great trail, but hard to follow. We got a packet from the visitor center with direction because it is not listed online and it is not marked.
I did this first on my visit to Petrified Forest National Park and kind of regret it. If you have plenty of time, or are a local, go for it. The trail is cool. But I would have rather started at the southern end of the scenic drive and tacked this on if I had time. It is definitely worth stopping at one or more of the overlooks in this area. But there's lots to do in this park, and I rank this trail lower than the reviews here generally do.
