With this loop of Old Post, Ridge, and Ramshead trails, you can enjoy views and vistas of the red rock formations from all different directions of the Sedona area. The trail itself changes from sand/dirt to rocky several times. The scenery from open areas to forested. Elevation changes also keep the hike interesting.

We liked this hike. The trail begins and ends with really impressive views. The mid-section has some moderate climbs that we enjoyed for the workout. The scenery mid-section in November wasn’t too interesting. It was convenient to be so close to town but you do stay close to homes at various intervals during the hike. We missed the final trail leg back to the car instead hiking to the Ridge trail head then taking the road back to the car. The app helped us figure out where we were at but we neglected to consult it during the hike.

Great views of the Red Rocks and some of the bigger formations.

This is an easy to moderate hike that kept our interest with changing scenery and views throughout. Note that you will cross dirt roads twice. Once near the last section of
Ridge Trail and again during Ramshead Trail.
