Great hike for kids if they want to explore caves. As you approach the top of the hill tne trail forks. Right fork takes you to the caves, left continues the loop ttail.

Fairly quick climb to summit. A little steep but not too bad. Caves to the right were cool. Stayed to the right on the way down to circle around peak back to trail head. About 50% shade. Cool breezes at the top. We started early to avoid heat.

Great wooded trail, caves at the top that are interesting. Good hike.

Great views of the surrounding areas from the summit. Follow the map and make sure you walk the whole trail at the top to not miss the caves. However, from the main parking, you don't have to walk out the full backside on the map at the bottom unless you want some extra distance.

easy hike with amazing views. I saw only a few other people on the trail. it was difficult to find an isolated pee spot through, the trail is very open!

Unfortunately we didn't see any caves. We hiked from the Cinder Lake Dump TH up and back. Still trying to identify the name of the peak though.

Beautiful hike... a bit easy and not great for dogs due to the hot lava type terrain.

Nice trail with small caves at the top to explore. Very sandy and not firm footing for the rest of it.

Nice way up to the summit, but not a huge fan of the sand on the loop coming back around.

Was NOT impressed, trails in Prescott much nicer. Very difficult to walk on, trail is all sand like. Not very scenic, poorly marked. Found much nicer trails at snowbowl.

Cool hike. I typically like trails that make you climb a little bit or semi scale larger rocks, where terrain changes a ton and it’s not like that but still a solid trail. Tons of shaded areas etc.

Heavily trafficked trail with day hikers and horses. About 2.1 miles out to a peak that has a 270 degree view. Very pretty at the top and would highly recommend for anyone with large group, jogging, or kids. Some steep sections but short lived.

Beginning hike up to the top fun great view. Caves lacking still cool to see. Ending flat and a bit boring. Still fun though!

Great hike, though the part that goes out and back on the old cave trail seemed superfluous unless you want to get those extra steps in! The caves were mildly interesting at best, but the views were great. I was told the snakes were out, so be careful!

Good trail to do. It was a great view to see snow on San Francisco Peaks. Not much for shade. Moderate hike. We did counter clockwise and it may have been easier if we did clockwise.

Before you get up to the top, there is a trail on right side that leads to caves otherwise you’ll have to come back down to see the caves.

This was a nice trail with good views of Mt Elden and the San Francisco Peaks. Make sure you explore the top of the far right part of the hill for the caves!

Great short hike. Starts out flat then once you get to the crater summit trail head it starts an incline then quickly turns to switch backs. It gets your heart rate going but the top is worth it. Make sure you take the right trail at the top to see the caves.

Nice loop trail. I tracked it at 4.8 miles. I couldn’t get up to the cave that is a harder climb than the loop. The loop was a bit muddy and had a steady incline.
