The Ocotillo Loop Trail was opened in Apr 2018 as an alternate segment for the Foothills Loop Trail. Ocotillo is longer than Foothills but has less elevation gain and the elevation gain is more gradual. It doesn't offer as many wide, sweeping vistas but the north side of the loop goes through several large stands of ocotillo. They are particularly beautiful in mid- to late-April, when they bloom.
