This is a light conditioning hike for valley hikers, think a Camelback Mtn Jr, about half the distance and elevation. Has some nice views right smack in the city. But the semi-hidden secret is that this is a great summer hike an hour before sunset. I don't wear my shades or a hat as trail an hour before sunset is entirely in shade until the top. So if temp says its 104, the trail is prolly 10-12 degrees less. Humidity may be more, though.

I would say this is more moderate.

I hike this trail at least three times a week. It is a perfect short workout that pays off the effort. Sometimes is it just great to sit on top of a rock and meditate while watching the sunset. Once you pass the "via dolorosa" stone stairs, you are set for success, and you might just want to continue and make it to the top. I love to see entire families hiking together on this trail. As a right now it is jut in and out from bottom to top and back down, as the other side (paved road) is under construction. An area for improvement would be to have signs in English and Spanish about littering… and not living trail. Several plastic bottle on the way! I have seen coyotes, bob cats and raddled snakes on the trail!
