This was an ok trail, but some of the comments are puzzling. The trail was very easy to follow, i didn't need to reference the map once! It's all cairned and there is actually a trail the whole time! There are a couple short steep sections, but nothing too crazy. No scrambling or exposure or anything sketchy.

Great hike on a primitive trail. It’s best down mid-day. Otherwise, the trail is harder to see when it’s shaded. It’s steep.

HikingGreat!

i've done this trail many times in the past 10 yrs, and it is beautiful, but yes, the steep section above bull pasture, on the unmaintained trail, has seriously degraded over the years -- of course! -- i even tried twice to find alternatives to avoid this section -- no good, they were worse -- but definitely my favorite in this part of arizona

This is a very difficult trail and you will spend a decent amount of time searching for the trail, but it offers amazing views of Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument and the mountains in Mexico. There is a significant amount of rock climbing and scrambling over boulders. I would reccomend this trail to someone who is experienced and is in good physical shape. We did not see any wildlife except for a few birds. The summit is shared with sometype of research station. I am not sure if the National Park service wants people hiking this since the map we received from the visitor center did not have the whole trail listed.

Past the Bull Pasture the trail is not well maintained. Thankfully someone put up little rock piles to show the way but it was still easy to get off trail, which I did several times...glad I had the map downloaded! There was also a large section near the middle that was mainly loose rock...it was very sketchy coming down. The top was amazing and I’m glad I finished, but it probably wouldn’t be a hike I’d do again.

This is a spectacular hike. The pinnacles and rock formations are striking. The trail goes through very rugged terrain and you keep wondering where it is going to go next, but the route unfolds beautifully. However, once past Bull Pasture it is on unofficial trail which is occasionally hard to find. There is a bit of mild scrambling, but if you end up in an uncomfortably exposed place you are off-route. We got off the main route once on the way up ( trail to subpeak on the ridge which branched left) and once on the way down (missed the turn into the gully with the agave in the middle and ended up on ledges). However, we were able to locate the trail again quite quickly. Hiking poles are recommended for the ball-bearing talus on the way down.

This trail has some great views to offer! We went early in the morning to avoid the heat of the day. It tooK us 6 hours round trip - coming down wasn’t much faster than going up thanks to all of the screw/loose rock you traverse for about a mile. I found this trail “hard” - comparing it to other hikes as far as difficultly, it is far more challenging than Lassen Peak in CA.
