This trail is great - excellent trail, wonderful views, and interesting history. But its name is somewhat misleading and might be better named the Molino Basin Trail. It doesn't start from the Molino Canyon Vista turnout but from the Molino Basin Campground parking lot 0.7 miles further uphill on the General Hitchcock Highway. It is the northernmost portion of Passage #10 - "Redington Pass" of the Arizona Trail, After skirting south of the Molino Basin Campground the trail climbs steadily westward until it reaches the ridgeline and nearby Gordon Hirabayashi trailhead, campground and memorial at the site of the former Catalina Federal Honor (prison) Camp begun in 1937 and used for relocating Japanese-Americans in WW-II.
