We started in the Nogales side and made it 11 miles.... can’t wait to come back and try again. Unfortunately the dirt road, melted snow, and more snow was we were getting higher in the mountains concerned me about getting the Tahoe stuck, so I turned around and headed back. It was so beautiful though!! Updated May 2020 - did 31 miles before we blew out our tire on a sharp rock. Much easier in the warmer time of year, but still didn’t finish. The valley between the two mountains is awesome!!

We did this drive a year or so ago. We did it after a monsoon which made it much more enjoyable. Mud and water is always a good time.

An amazing experience, took about 2 hours. Didn't see anyone except for Border Patrol. Open and beautiful, crosses 2 mountains. High clearance vehicle a necessity. I am very happy to have the AllTrails Pro, as I was able to download maps and did not get lost... Forest Road 61 all the way. (signs will warn of no trespassers and thru traffic only, much of this land is BLM and private, safe and legal to drive through, just don't go randomly hiking.)

We drove this trail on April 30, 1999. The road was fairly well maintained, and we had no problems. I can't remember seeing another soul the entire length.
