We’ve been visiting madera canyon for years. I called the the number for the National forest to ask is there are fees. When we last went all the trash cans were sealed and the bathrooms closed. I assumed there was no fees. But paid anyway. To play it safe. When we wanted to visit again I called to make sure and the person I spoke with said yes there is still a fee. Of $8. You can call 520-388-8300 and ask. Anyway. It’s a nice place to have a picnic or take a hike.

pretty alright place, our only option due to the Lemmon being out of commission for now. Unsure about the fees at the moment. didn't look like anyone was actually paying them,so we were unsure as well, did a small stretch of the super trail and left, not wanting our car to get towed. guess I was still left with the question of if fines are a thing here and if they are enforced. Either way not a bad place cool birds, saw some lizards and lava rocks.

normally, I love this trail. but alas, people suck. beer cans everywhere, trashes all overflowing, the porta johns are even fuller than they were in Iraq. no sanitizer or water/soap. the trail itself is nice, but people have ruined Madera.

I love this trail buts it’s super easy. It’s great for bird watching and I see at least one deer every single time I go (which is a lot)! WARNING: Very popular trail in the morning! approximately 6 miles if you park In the White House parking lot.

Beautiful hike along the stream (just a trickle of water) that then turns and heads up gradually. Stunning views and nicely labeled plant identifiers. A great easily marked trail.

4-14-20 This was more like seven miles. We parked by the Proctor Road entrance and hiked all the way to the Round out over three miles uphill, passing a waterfall, a gurgling stream, bat houses, a grave, some ruins and lots of informative signs. plenty of shade in the lower half and great views in the upper half. Heard an elegant trogon as we rested at a picnic table.

Really lovely stroll by the creek, don't miss the waterfall right by the entrance! It's amazing, make sure you scramble down to the base (a small spur is on the right of the trail a minute away from the parking lot) where the view is otherworldly. Lots of birds and fun stops. Check out the little ruin of the old mercantile, read the signs (loved learning about alligator junipers - always wondered why the bark on the trees looked like that!) Relaxing and well maintained, a great stroll or very nice cool down after doing other hikes in the park. Fee or national park pass required. Open amid corona crisis. Great hike. Shade was perfect and opened up in some areas. The water was nice and runs along a big part of the hike. Took my 12 year old daughter and our dog with a pack everyone loved it.

Great trail for starters. Had a great time. Nice views. Get early to find a parking spot , there is a fee for parking. Lots of shade during trail. Will recommended hiking shoes to wear.
