All Trails is a bit out of date. The trails are open. Also we added Wedding Cake Hill to the loop which makes it far more worthwhile if you hike.

I was really excited about this trail - and the trail itself was great. However, there were TONS of tarantula hawk wasps, which have extremely painful stings. I was really worried about getting stung so I turned back at about 1.3 miles (not quite halfway, I figured quit while I was ahead). I saw a minimum of 25 of the wasps before I made it back to my car. I did the other trail in March (hieroglyphics trail) and had no bug issues, so this is clearly just a summer thing. I just wanted to warn others, I will not be back until it cools off significantly and they will be less active.

Beautiful, kid-friendly hike. We had a 6 yo, 9 yo, and two teenagers and it took us 90 minutes. Lots of flowers!

Great trail, watch for the Cougar Loop trail that cuts off to the right at 1.72 miles, only marked by a cairn, rest of Cougar Loop is fairly level.

Beautiful scenery, easy elevation. It’s a little over 4 miles. Clockwise pointers: Where the trail divides, go right for the loop (not toward the post marked “trail”). Lush and green, nice views of the Superstitions. Towards the end there’s a handmade sign directing you back to Lost Goldmine. We kept straight and it took us to the parking lot, which is shared with Hieroglyphics trail, so it fills up fast. I think you could go either way. Saw 4 other hikers, several mountain bikers, very peaceful.

Found this trail to be one that was not evenly difficult. There were no rocks larger than 8 inches high that had to be cleared to keep to the trail. The map is off by about 10 yards where the Cougar Trail diverges. I should have followed my intuition to take the trail which was marked on both sides by stacked rocks and with a stick straight up in the middle. I, rather, followed the indicated map which placed me having to cut across an area that was a bit more challenging and not well traveled. It did regain the main trail quickly, however.

It was a very mild hike, probably better for mountain biking or horse back riding.

No longer a loop as part of the trail is not maintained anymore. This trail goes all the way out and connects with peralta.
