A few hours of solitude on this road less taken is exactly what I needed. The trail is not difficult, but it is over 8 miles. @jwtherobison

Pretty uneventful trail without much scenery. Trail enters wash for last mile or so and simply ends at the end of a canyon. Nothing spectacular.

The last mile of the trail is through a wash which can be difficult to follow the trail. it then abruptly ends in a box canyon. Overall the trail is just.... meh...

Easy walk on a well-maintained trail. Beautiful views over Phoenix and Scottsdale and also wonderful habitat.

The trail was rocky, but manageable. Last half mile or so was in a wash (not a fan of that). Sunrise or inspiration point trails are better choices for the scenery and quality.

This is a fairly rocky trail. There’s no real destination. You just kind of find a trail comes to an end and then it’s time to turn around and go home. Better than sitting on the couch so four stars it gets

I was hiking alone and I did enjoy the peace it was a little isolated. From the time I got on Quartz trail I never saw another person. A lot of the trail traveled through the riverbed and it was quite grassy. I kept waiting for some spectacular views but never got there. Next time I would go to towards Sunrise

First to Review

Best to check the two individual trails for detailed reviews. Picking up Quartz here, you slug through some fairly unremarkable wash for the second third of the trail, and knowing you’ll be in the wash until the end will likely make it tempting to turn back. But it gets rockier and prettier as you go deeper into the canyon, and I do think the last third makes it worth it. Easy on the way back but also very easy to miss your turn up out of the wash, so pay attention or you’ll be slugging it up the side! Lots of pretty wildflowers (end of January).
