Short little trail, big reward. The views at the top were a sight to behold. I happened upon this trail while exploring the Sunset Crater Nat'l Monument. Mellow incline to the top, but it requires enough effort that most of the tourists don't bother with it. Which means some solitude at the top with those amazing views of the craters and the Francisco Peaks.
This trail was so much fun! There is some steep incline you need to hike to get up to the crater but there are plenty of places to stop for a quick breather. There is still snow on the trail from the last storm we had in flagstaff. It was thawed out enough that normal walking shoes were appropriate. Overall, amazing views!
Easy and moderate trail with beautiful views of Sunset Crater and the mountains around Flagstaff. Excellent for kids and dogs.
