Just a short walk on Kai-Vav-Wi Nature Trail #34 and part of the Jacob Lake Campground loops.

Most of this road is high desert with ponderosa trees. It's not really the canyon you expect to see until you are pretty much in the park at the end after you park and start walking around!! It is a nice drive. Keep in in mind after Jacob Lake, the services are limited. The gas station closest to the park is open only til 8 or 9pm on most nights. This road has limited access from about mid October to Mid May/Early June.

Nice drive through a national forest some of which burned a few years ago. Follows several meadows that had a herd of Bison and many deer. Also saw a coyote run across the road.

We stayed in Jacob's Lake in a National Forest Campground in July, 1994. The drive to the north rim is OK, but not great. The North Rim is not near as busy and the South Rim, but there are still a fair number of folks there.

Decent scenery, though the really interesting parts are at either end of the road. We stayed at the often overrlooked Kaibabab Lodge, rather than at Jacob Lake. It is interesting and rustic - not for those seeking luxury.
