Forget about it, you’ve never experienced anything remotely close to the north kaibob trail. Bison in the lower plains of the plateau the new growth coming up from the fires a couple years ago. The deer and the condors are incredible. Brezzy everyday 75. 55 at night but with the warm air coming up from the canyon floor it was never cold. A billion stars The changing aspen colors of early fall. Camped in the hiker biker spot for a week on the transept trail. Gotta put it on the bucket list for the my end of Journey Earth too do again.

Just a short walk on Kai-Vav-Wi Nature Trail #34 and part of the Jacob Lake Campground loops.

Most of this road is high desert with ponderosa trees. It's not really the canyon you expect to see until you are pretty much in the park at the end after you park and start walking around!! It is a nice drive. Keep in in mind after Jacob Lake, the services are limited. The gas station closest to the park is open only til 8 or 9pm on most nights. This road has limited access from about mid October to Mid May/Early June.

Nice drive through a national forest some of which burned a few years ago. Follows several meadows that had a herd of Bison and many deer. Also saw a coyote run across the road.

We stayed in Jacob's Lake in a National Forest Campground in July, 1994. The drive to the north rim is OK, but not great. The North Rim is not near as busy and the South Rim, but there are still a fair number of folks there.

Decent scenery, though the really interesting parts are at either end of the road. We stayed at the often overrlooked Kaibabab Lodge, rather than at Jacob Lake. It is interesting and rustic - not for those seeking luxury.
