Nice, steady climb, a few rocky areas, but not too rough overall. Good mix of sun and shade, lots of oak trees, more pines as you get to the saddle. Went back down old baldy which was much more steep. Will try the opposite route next time.

Today, We went up Super trail up to Josephine Saddle Loop and went back by Old Baldy trail. The views are amazing there. We saw woodpeckers, several different species of birds. The forest was lush even with the scars of the forest fire. I’m a somewhat sedentary person and It was moderate-difficult the first two miles and from there, it was medium-easy. You get warmed up as you go.

Beautiful hike! Took longer then we thought but was not a hard hike, just long. A few places to stop and relax by water until you get further up the mountain but then the views themselves are relaxing enough on their own. $5 parking fee. Be careful of snakes! One surprised us down by the water.

My wife and I do this loop all the time. Whether it's up the Super trail and down Old Baldy Trail or vice versa. We usually go up Super lately as it's a real nice grade and not to strenuous. Old baldy trail is much steeper when you ascend that way. There's lots of other options for loops when you get to the saddle too. We've done most of those too.
