The trail takes you through a large burn area with quite a few dead and downed trees. What is pretty, however, is the contrast between the burned trees and the extensive new growth of aspen trees. At the end of the trail is a scenic view which is quite nice.

Trail begins easily and climbs hard near the top. Beautiful forest the entire trip with a great panora view at the top. Well worth the effort

Nice trail for most of the way up. Fallen trees on trail were a challenge. The view from the top is beautiful.

Hiking this in the summer on a wet yr has the bonus of lots of wild red raspberries along the trail up to the lookout. There were quite a few large blowdowns along the trail up to the lookout that were a pain. Also, there is a road that circles around up to the lookout that people can drive. .

Nice hike to Big Lake Lookout. Only hiked about a mile past the lookout on the trail -- lots of deadfall and snags. I remember this being a beautiful, lushly forested trail about 10 years ago. Encouraging to see all the new growth Aspen and sad to see the devastation from the Wallow Fire.

Hiked the loop in about 3 hours, 30 minutes. For half the trail, you are walking through fire damaged land - lots of baby aspen trees about head height now. Good to see the land recovering but it will be years before it is what it used to be.
